30ff, replace or repair

Dreaded 30Ff on any sustained pull over 3-4 seconds - so basically every on ramp,to the interstate. Fortunately Carly adaptor resolves short term. 07 N54 with 133K miles on original turbos, 55K of which is Cobb stage 2 or MHD 2+. Wastegates sing there song all the time....

What is the equation to consider replacement turbos vs replacing a vehicle that is 12 years old.....?

Wife has a 2011 X5 (N55) and wants something newer, so I could upgrade her and take the SUV but really didnt want to get back into car payments....I suppose it is inevitable.....sigh...guess I will see what the N55 can do with all that weight on its shoulders....

Put $1000 Chinese turbos on it and report back here frequently about their reliability.

In all seriousness, have you diagnosed other causes of underboost? What mods do you have? Assuming other maintenance items are up to date and in good condition it will be cheaper to fix the car than to replace it.

Agreed...have you run a log to see what’s happening with the underboosting? Vacuum or smoke tests?

Lol, I am in China 4-5 times a year for work....

Mods: CSF radiator, ATM steppped intercooler and VSF charge pipe...all done same time as tunes 55K miles ago. I can get Mitsubishi turbo set for roughly $1700 from FCP Euro....or pay extra for VC lites or equivalent. I am inclined to replace with the best stage one option with upgraded wasregates.

Going in Tuesday for full testing plus valve cover gasket replacement
