Heavy Vibration through chassis/engine bay?
Hi there
When I rev the engine the car vibrates throughout the body, I have noticed no drops in performance or anything else that would highlight any easy to spot fixes There is also a lot of shaking occuring when the car is idle, when I rev the car the shaking stops but there is more of a vibration and an audible grounding noise?? (really hard to explain) when it hits about 2k revs and gets workse at about 3k revs I filmed this which shows the extent of the shaking in idle - the gearstick is probably the most visible area in relation to the problem: Just after the revs drops you can hear the rattling/shaking which is coming from the gearstick From the engine bay everything sounds normal, you can not hear anything peculiar coming from that area, but you can feel it and hear it more from sitting in the front part of the car Hopefully the video helps because its really hard to explain Last edited by avi312singh; 04-18-2018 at 02:22 PM.. |

Here's a video I filmed a few minutes ago: Edit: If you focus on the engine there is a bit of side to side movement? Just noticed in the video now... Just to mention formula one autocentres said he reckons it is a gearbox mounting after putting it up on ramp very briefly and said take it to main dealer!! A local garage who were very rude said it is the dual mass flyweel, without even sitting in the car and I was revving it for them while he was standing outside Last edited by avi312singh; 04-18-2018 at 02:21 PM.. |

Yea that video of the engine bay looks rough.. would definitely consider changing the mounts for engine and transmission (might as well as its easy and cheap).

I had a strong feeling it would've been the DMF and clutch that needs replacing? Can you tell from my video? The clutch and DMF cost 1k plus for oem parts and labour so hoping it's not that Last edited by avi312singh; 04-19-2018 at 02:18 AM.. |

Hopefully it is just the engine bay mounts but I haven't clarified it yet.. Hoping the videos I posted would've been able to help. |

I argued a lot with them because they didn't keep the old clutch for me to inspect and the changing of the clutch didn't fix my issue.
I took the car to them for a slight whining sound when the car was in second gear mainly below 2500rpms. They said is the clutch even though there were no other symptoms of a worn clutch. Sound is still there to this very day so I accepted it as normal. I wrote a bad review for their garage on Google and other websites so I got the 400£ in exchange for taking down the bad reviews. Be careful as many mechanics are terrible and might change shit that doesn't need changing. |

I'm not experienced enough to tell you if it could be the DMF or clutch. |

181855.872 exactly haha, which is quite high, so these problems start happening at this mileage and parts start becoming worn out etc... Quote:
