Wow....took quite a few shots at BMW.
(Premise of the commercial is the G8 vs. the 550i, and how you would think that the BMW would win, but in reality the G8 has all these "advantages") http://jalopnik.com/373955/pontiac-g...n-poetic-verse |

Yeah, I just saw the tastless garbage commercial while watching the final 4. Too bad they dont talk about their garbage snap off interior parts and controls or their cheesy interior layout. I wouldnt touch a Pontiac if it were given to me free. Total pieces of garbage just like all of GM products. Sure some of them may be fast to satisfy those who are only interested in acceleration. A car is the sum of its parts and how it feels to reward its driver, not just a series of dry numbers on paper. I have test driven several cars that looked good on paper only to discover it was utterly disapointing once driven. What I find funny is that the G8 doesnt even offer a manual transmission. I guess GM couldnt put one together worth a crap.
A few weeks ago I was forced to drive a rental car while my previous car was in the body shop. The Ladys insurance provided an 08 Chevy Malibu for me to drive. Now I know the Malibu is a budget car compared to the G8 but for gods sake it was a total piece of crap. I expected it to be better due to hearing about how GM had really improved as of late but could not believe that any modern automaker would put out something that drove as badly as the Malibu did. This car only had about 10,000 miles on it. Up until I recieved my new BMW a couple of weeks ago I had been driving exclusively Honda and Subaru over the last 12 years. Honda puts out several cars in the same price range as the Malibu but none of the Hondas should be insulted as to be included in a comparison test. Honda would be ashamed to put out something as crappy as that Malibu. As far as BMW, the level of driver feel and refinement is in a whole new league compared to even the Honda, let alone any GM product. I am not a badge whore. I drive what feels best to me perfomance wise. If Pontiac put out something that truly felt like a BMW that is as well put together then I will be first in line to test drive it. Until then, I will drive my Hondas, Subarus and BMWs. |

Saw it a little while ago. Dumb commercial IMO. Maybe I am a little bias though.

Horrible comparison of a G8 to a luxury sedan. Cars are not even in the same class. Pontiacs are for hicks.

I have given GM products a chance over and over again. Always biased towards American. I swore I would never buy a bimmer mainly because all my colleages have them. Then I drove one. No comparison. Not Cadillac and definitely not Pontiac. GM puts out the numbers and forgets to construct a durable product.
They won't get me back until my Alzheimer's kicks in. |

American car companies always trash what they consider the competition, it's tasteless in my opinion, even if it is a good car, which the G8 is bound to be a good selling vehicle.

All this is going to do is pump up the pontiac fan boys.
No bmw driver is going to suddenly decide to purchase a pontiac. This will require years and years change at GM. Not rebadging and Australian made GM car. |

Oh no, another BMW vs GM topic that totally bashes GM. Of course the G8 can't evenly compete with a 5 series but the point is a loaded G8 (which by the way has received uniformly excellent reviews) retails for about $32K and has 361 horsepower, does 0-60 in 5.3 seconds and handles very well. It's no 5 series but a comparable 535 is over $56K and has the unfortunate Bangle butt.
Thanks, Mike. |

By the way, how many luxury vehicles can you get for $32K with the performance of the G8? Thanks, Mike. |
