Shutter/hesitation from staggered wheels

Hey all. Having an odd issue where upon acceleration, the car stutters or hesitates. It only happens when I put on my staggered wheel set up. I have had the wheels for almost four years but the issue started last summer. It happens about 50% of the time and more so during hard acceleration. No lights on dashboard. I attached a copy of the original invoice that has the wheel and tire sizes. Ordered them from a vendor of this site a few years back. Any thoughts? Car is awd btw.

I haven't had them balanced since I purchased them. That's actually a great idea. They have roughly 8k miles on them. From what I just read, it seems that if the steering wheel shakes, your front tires may need balancing. If the car jerk, it's probably the rear tires that need to be balanced.

You will need to find out specifically from the manufacturer how many revolutions each tire will make in a mile at what tire pressure.

Also, is this a manual or automatic?

Just got back from the shop. Supposedly they are balanced just fine. The car is an automatic. The tech blamed it on the staggered set up, but it would have caused that issue from the get go I'm guessing.

I suspect that with your staggered setup, there is a slight difference in the rolling diameter between the front and rear wheels. If it's a very small difference, all systems work fine.

Now that your rear tires are worn down more, the difference is starting to approach the threshold where things are not fine, and it's starting to trip the computer.

if the sizes between front/rear become too large, you risk damaging your center differential, so keep that in mind. having the same size tires all the way around is very important on an AWD car.

Had the same issue when installed 19's on my GTI. Shop installed the wrong size hub centric rings. It was off by a mm or two but it made a difference. Do you have rings installed?

I looked into that when I punched them. The vendor said there would be no issue and for the first few years there wasn't. But I never really considered what would happen as the tread wore. Definitely a possibility. Thanks

Supposedly they are hub centric and didn't require any ring according to the vendor. One of the wheels was a hassel to put on. I could remove it and make sure the ring wasn't damaged. I can snap a photo in the am
