Broke my clutch and clutch plate
Broke it by gearing into first while clutched in at about 70 , mechanic said my plate was crumpled . Charged 2800 to fix it . it actually clicks now every time I clutch it . I see clutch kits with plates about 500-700 dollars . Am I missing something ?

He's probably including a new dual mass flywheel, and that's going to drive up the price. Those run close to $1,000 depending on what brand.

You can get a 335is (the clutch to buy for everything but big single turbo guys) for ~$400.
DMFW is $1000 retail, but getting a Luk unit and shopping around can be had for under $600 easily. $1000 total in parts. $1800 in labor is bending you over. Period. Wait a second, you own a 330. The parts are probably cheaper for that. He is really taking you for a ride on this job. |
