Aftermarket head unit problems on e90

Hi Guys,

Problem is:

You will need to install the factory head unit in order to keep all functionality.

Most folks who swap head units locate it in the trunk.

Check the audio forums here for more details.

Yes, keeping the head unit in the trunk is best, there are other things you have not found yet that stopped working as well.

You wil need the factory head unit for a bunch of stuff.

You wil need the factory head unit for a bunch of stuff.
Most BMW's that we have in the US have an Optical Bus
that peripherals are attached to off the Head Unit. The head unit
acts a server and junction point for them.
You will need the Head Unit if you ever need to get that car
repaired at a BMW dealer.
Some people do a parallel mount to avoid this problem.
