Totaled my 550i, upgraded to an E93!

Got an '06 550i just 11 months ago that ended up totaling in a minor parking lot accident.

I'd had small cars all my life so it took a while to get used to, but it never really felt like "the one". Even when it was getting serviced at BMW and I got a 328i as a loaner it felt so much more lively and fit my style more.

When it was time to decide on a new car then I knew I had to go back to the 3 and ended up with the '07 335i convertible--which after test driving left me happier than I'd ever been after any driving experience which I'd never had with the 5.

Have had it for just a few days and I treasure it more than my very first car when I was 17 which I never thought was possible, and am definitely looking forward to putting some miles on it.

Pics of the old and new ride attached!

That definitely doesn't look like a minor accident to me!

Enjoy the E93- at least if you wreck it, you'll have about 450 extra pounds of safety reinforcement

Hope you got some kind of warranty with it- those early N54s can give some serious headaches.

Good luck!

How is the power delivery between both? The ~360(?) of the 550i vs the 300 of the E93?

Smart move. The 550 makes zero sense to me anyway. Its a gas guzzler, it's probably a bigger pain in ass to fix, and with a tune on a 535 you already have more power for dayzzz. Enjoy that vert, get some sunscreen for your head and enjoy

They're surprisingly identical really.

The e93 is heavier and has 60 less hp, power, but the max torque comes at a lower RPM so they're actually very similar.

Going from 0 to freeway speeds are really close but the 550i does feel "smoother", but 60-80 they're both so effortless and you know there's plenty of power to spare.

The exhaust is way better on the 3's end. From start-up to hearing the blow-off valves on my parking garage there's no contest between the 3 and the Camry exhaust of the 550i, which surprised me given the v8 under the hood.

lol It starts like that, then one day the bmw fairy comes to your house. First the injectors, then wastegate rattle, then water pump, then your brake module. Couple thousand dollars and you pull your hair out lol

and it all hits at one time
