Servomotor replacement estimate?

Newbie here,

Unfortunately,
I have been advised my 2013 E70 (N55) Valvetronic Servomotor needs replaced. Mechanic work includes the New Servomotor, valve cover and tube and labor for $2200.00
The mechanic also stated that there is a 50/50 chance the servomotor will sink, I think he meant to say "run-in procedure" ?
Any thoughts or opinions will be helpful.

Thank you

There are a number of youtube videos on this process, it doesn't look fun and it looks like a huge labor/time expense. The part alone is in the $400 range online from a cursory search. I'm sure there are other misc costs too. Most shops charge in the $100-$150/hr labor rates. So while pricey, it's not unheard of.

It wouldn't hurt to shop around too, perhaps you can find a place where you can bring your own parts? shaving a few hundred off?

I replace this motor a few years back *roughly* following the BMW TIS instructions. I didn't need to remove the fuel injectors as there was enough space to squeeze the motor out once the injector shafts were loosened. No computer was needed as the motor self aligned by just leaving ignition on for a short period of time if I remember correctly. Would have been easier if at least two of the injectors were removed, but a few special tools are needed to remove and replace injectors and their gaskets. Good luck, here is the link to the TIS.
