Question LCI Tail light Upgrade

Hey guys...

I have an 09 E70 and want to upgrade to the LCI tails. I know there's plenty of retrofit kits out there, and plenty of different places to find them. However, i just happened to stumble across a local online ad for a guy selling the full tail light set off of his 2011 E70. Better yet, his asking price is almost too good to pass up. Perfect working condition, and look brand new!

So, before I stupidly go through with this transaction, just wanted to make sure I'm educated. Am I able to do a straight swap with the tails from a newer 2011, or does the upgrade truly have to be a 'retrofit' kit?
(Yes, I know coding has to be done as well)

I did it. Took about 35 mins. The most time consuming part was removing the rear hatch panel to get to the inner rear lamps. There are vids on YouTube on that...

You will just get the warning that you have rear burnt out brake lights. Coding is as simple as adding +MEUH to your vehicle order (FA)in the FRM and CAS modules.

It's not neccesery to remove the hatch panel. Just pull out the small lights and you will get access to the screw holding the inner taillights.

I did this yeasterday. But not for changing them, but to emptying them from on water

What model year did the newer LCI lights come out?
And did this affect the X5M years too?

Here is a link to pics of pre v post LCI tailights. I don't know when they started wih the LCI's - sometime in the 2011 build year, i believe, but I can tell you that 2011 X5M with a 4/10 build date has the LCI's.

Hello my friends and sorry to wake up this old thread :-D but I have a quick tiny question, see I did the retrofit to my 2008 E70, for the tail lights, and all is working well except the annoying error messages I’m getting on screen.

I have read about coding off all rear bulb checks, tried by myself but it didn’t work, though I think I installed everything properly.

So anyway I remember someone saying that there’s a cable that fixes this error without the need to code anything. (Because it’s basically a voltage difference or sth between the old and the new bulbs) so can u guys guide me if u know where to get these cables from?

And thanks in advance
