Which new rims?

I have installed winter tires on them OEM 18" rims on our 2012 X5, and I'm thinking of getting another set of rims to use with summer tires. I definitely want to stay with OEM (no aftermarket) and brand new. I also like to stay conservative with the sizes, 18" or 19" at most. Can I use F15 or G05 rims? Which ones are easier to find new?

E70 or F15, G05 won't work due to different bolt pattern.

I assume u know the prices for new OEM rims, if u fine with that there are plenty of places including dealer u can order them from, just choose u style...

Do F15 and E70 have the same hub bore? Also, will TPMS work?

I believe center bore between f15 and e70 are the same, same should be between f85 and e70 M.
You should check on TPMS, I'm not totally sure, depends on year.

I know you said no reps, but these are 20 inch staggered 611M reps, Replika R184s in gun metal / machine face from Canada Wheels. Great warranty, quality product and absolutely stupid cheap if you live in the US and can benefit from the difference in the US and Canadian dollar. You are probably looking at around $840 US plus shipping for a set of four. The only oddity is that a BMW center cap won't fit so I bought the heavy duty overlay BMW roundel stickers from my local BMW dealer at $15 each. They go right over the center caps that come with these rims and work perfectly. I'm running Continental Extreme contact DWS 06's on them (during summer - right now I have my fugly OEM 18's and Pirelli Scorpion snow tires).

Thanks! I quite like the big improvement over the 18 inch plain Jane OEMS that were on my car when I bought it. By the way, if anybody wants a set of these Replika R184 rims, the number to Canada Wheels is 1 800 453-4484. Mine are staggered 20 inch in gunmetal with machined-face. They are a good honest outfit.

See info below in regards to center bore and offset "range". Also note the TPMS are different for the E70 and F15. You can also verify this by pulling up the TPMS diagrams for each in one of the online part databases (like www.realoem.com or www.bmwfans.info) and see what the "build date" or "TO/FROM" columns have listed as to usability of the sensor. If you do mount f15 wheels on an e70...or e70 wheels on an f15...then you'll have to include changing the sensors in the overall price.

I would look up the correct 11 digit BMW part nbr for my BMW (based on its VIN)...then do a google search by typing "BMW xx xx x xxx xxx" (where x=the actual bmw part nbr). This should give you lots of results of vendors that sell the correct sensors you need...plus get an idea of the high and low price range they are going for.

I'd also call my local tire shops...especially the national chains like Tire America/Discount Tire/Bell Tire/etc and see what they offer. They will also have the tools to activate aftermarket TPMS that are made for multiple applications (these sensors may cost less since they can be used in multiple applications).

I had a set of 18" BMW wheels I had been storing in my shed since 2012...and I need winter wheels/tires for my 650ix GC...I found out they fit...but they were off my old e38 740iL which didn't have TPMS. You can see part of the receipt below from my local Discount Tire...they sold me a set of four HUF brand "programmable" sensors @ $45 each:

So here is a little update. I scored a set of brand new F15 factory take offs. They are 19" style 449 wheels, wrapped in factory Michelin tires. Swapped the TPMS sensors, and put them on this morning.

They freshen the look of the car nicely. Also, the OEM Michelins seem to ride considerably nicer than the OEM Bridgestones, despite both being run flats and lower profile.

The old 18" rims are now going to be winter setup with snow tires.
