Velos and other company tunes (AA, eurocharged, custom)

Hello all,

I wanted to see how everyone's tune is doing for the AFRs in the lower RPMs while in full throttle.

It seems even at stock, the AFRs run lean in the 14s up until 4800 RPMs. I am going to power below some graphs I've collected over the internet of S63 Dyno runs to show you what I mean.

Would love to have folks chime in

I just got my tune from Tuning Tech Frank Smith (TTFS). Cant wait to read and send file to Frank to do a stage 1 tune for me. He owned an E70 X5M and the tune has been refined on their dyno.

I am not sure I'm going to be doing a dyno run as it's pretty expensive over here but I'll see if someone can offer a good price. No promises. I will be posting a review of the TTFS tune though.

I've had my TTFS tune for about two years now - zero complaints. The car drives great, powerband is awesome, and I haven't had any issues since having the tune installed. I went with TTFS since they are local to me and do not have a comparison against other tunes, but it's been a great and reliable tune. Hope you enjoy yours as well!

That's always good to hear. They have been my tuners for years now and Frank is good people. Since they owned an X5M and developed the tune on their dyno I am confident that it'll be a great tune. I can't wait to read and send the file off in 3 days.

Some really great photography; took a look at your site. How do I contact the company that did your tune? Thanks T. Lew

Got the TTFS tune done and very happy with the stage one power. Go to their site or call them.

No because TBH i dont have time for that. I used to a lot for my personal cars but i dont have the time any more. He has done a lot of tunes for me and i have dynoed previously but i trust him enough not to bother to dyno my daily.

Also, this is not his normal stage 1, i insisted it be conservative due to the 125f high humidity and high ambient heat summers we get and it generally stays hot here for 60-70% of the year.

How's the throttle response especially off the line? There's no info on S63 TT tuning stuff?

Also would increasing the boost make the car more prone to vacuum leaks and hoses coming off?

Throttle response is good, it gets going.

And as for increasing boost. I don't think you run those risks.

Hey Guys I have gotten a new tune. VF Engineering. Was there visiting them last month and i just couldn't say no as i like they use a USB cable and PC software instead of the prehistoric handheld unit. Will update once i get around to installing the tune.

Sweet, do you plan to dyno?

What else do you have done? Downpipes?

Maybe I'll dyno once things settle down. They'll be sending me two files, stage one and stage two. Once I have downpipes I just over write the stage one with the stage two tune.

Also interested in any updates. 0-60 curious what made you pay for another tune after already having the TTFS tune? I am considering having my x5m tuned by Frank or using Kassel Performance which is closer to me but not by much. I've used Frank for an E46 M3 build so I am familiar with his shop and his work.

Not yet due to Covid19

Frank's an old friend, I love the tune. I just hated using the handheld device and preferred a Cable approach. Power should be similar between them so it's just the ease of uploading and downloading the tune. It takes forever to read and write to these cars and that handheld unit, even if you get it wrong once you have to start all over and that's another hours plus wasted.

If frank is close by to you then you can just drive over and get the tune done there and then and no headaches of the prehistoric handheld.

Thanks I always like the idea of a custom tune for how each individual motor is performing rather than a one size fits all but that's just me. I can totally appreciate the frustration with the handheld device.

And you are lucky you see not too far from him. I am all the way in Bahrain so it masters things a lot more difficult lol.

Keep us posted about your custom tune from TTFS. It'll be amazing, I guarantee it.
