Know your BMW.

While owning my 2012 X6 M. I've gained a lot of knowledge.
1st the M version has the S63 motor, not be N63.
2nd because it's the S63. the oil I use is a synthetic German oil Liqui Moly, 10-60w. I live in North Carolina the weather is warm here most of the time. if I were in a colder climate I probably wouldn't use such a thick
weight. many people would argue that I should use 5-30w which is standard for other BMW But this is an S63 motor. the vehicle should come with a supplemental user's manual which may describe how to take care of the S63.
You'll want to change the coolant hoses around the turbos. the turbos are covered to keep a lot of heat away but the hoses that are nearest the turbos should be replaced. very easy to change.
other than that I so enjoy the car it is an ultimate driving machine.
Enjoy.

Hi all i am new to here, I just got my 2013 X6 M last year, has 30k mile on the odo right now. Its running quite fine actually, haven't notice any problem so far. I bought from a local BMW dealership certified preowned. One problem i dont know if they have already done the injector index 12 or not. So far i dont notice any noise coming out from the engine.

I do my engine oil and filter change every 3k mile, was also thinking about changing my transmission oil and filter.

Can I ask how often do you guys change your transmission oil and filter?

I'm looking to buy a slate grey, 2010 X6M with 105k/mi. The valve cover gaskets, water pumps, 3x plugs/coils, induction system serviced and regular oil changes with BMW Twin Power 10w-60 oil. What should I be paying?

Make sure they haven’t actually been using 10w-60 oil. It’s the incorrect oil for this engine, and due to its extreme thickness could cause oil starvation at the bearings, or their trying to hide an oil consumption problems. I’d pass if they are using thicker than recommended oil. Especially if it’s a daily as that oil takes for ever to heat up and flow properly into the various passages.

The S63 engine, is inherently a N63 and both specify 5w-30 if their working correctly.

Assuming the engine isn’t trashed, probably 15k for 105k miles private party.

My bad, all oil service was previously done with BMW 5w-30 oil.
