Coolant

Hello everyone, Happy New Year!!
I just wanted to know is it common 2011 X6 M goes through coolant. Just had turbo lines replaced. I don't have bmw coolant in the car, but using aftermarket coolant. Maybe that's my problem.

Any drips or leaks, or smell of coolant when driving? What coolant are you using, and does it meet the O.E.M. spec or is it just generic?

No drips or leaks. I'm using OEM spec coolant. I'm thinking it's not heat rated enough for my car. Smoking engine and smells of burning coolant. Also had pressure tested and came out fine.

Yep, might be a leak up top, and burning off before it hits the ground. If you were burning it off in combustion, you would have smoke in your exhaust.

Did you use this aftermarket coolant?

OEM Premixed Anti-Freeze/Coolant, BMW/Jaguar/Mercedes-Benz, 3.78-L

I'm curious if, in the end, it was the coolant wasn't up to spec?

I have a z4m. I was reading that the OEM stuff was same as the BMW branded stuff, but not sure how much truth there is in that..

Check to see if you qualify for the recall that repair the the coolant lines.

If not, you have to upgrade your cooling system with the aluminum parts. The coolant parts in the valley are most effected.

You can't avoid this. It's a matter of time. I just did this same very job.

They are alternatives, indys or DIYs.

My route was the dealer. As I get the 2 year warranty for the whole cooling system. Just in case dole goes bad.

So far it's been 3 weeks and no leaks. Plus the new parts impacts your oil cooling and helps with your oil retention, as the old parts have seals where the oil is cooled as well.

I was dealing with leaks for about a year. From drips to a blown expansion.

I'll answer anything I can.

Thanks.
