E70 rear end links.

DIY: Replacing Rear Sway Bar End Links

Problem:
As you drive around or especially while turning the curve you can hear small knocking that sounds like metal to metal knocking sound The noise appears to come from under the cars rear.

The connecting links wear out over time. When they begin to fail, you may also have a knocking noise in the front end when driving over bumps or when steering the vehicle. To inspect the stabilizer links, jack the front of the vehicle and wiggle the wheel back and forth. While wiggling the wheel, listen for a noise from the link. If no noise is heard, place your hand around the ends of the link and monitor for looseness as you wiggle the wheel. The rear link has a rubber bushing the stabilizer bar inserts into. These wear out and cause a clunking sound. If you have a noise in the rear, this is a good place to start looking.

Tools need:
18mm socket, t-40 (solid core) star socket, 18mm open end wrench and brand new pair rear end links.

I did this as well a few weeks back. Mine were very dry rot and clunking. Need to do the fronts too, but it's too cold right now here... lemforders as well. Couple pics in my thread on page 5... 9's X5M https://www.xbimmers.com/forums/show....php?t=1548291

Btw, how does that tile not crack from the weight of the car under the jack wheels?

Unless your Land Cruiser/lx450 is set up as an overland rig the x5 has it by a few hundred pounds. E70s are tanks!
