Clunk when Moving in Reverse
When I shift into reverse and start moving I hear slight clunk. May this indicate any potential issues? Car is 2012 E70 35i.
I am new to E70, coming from E92, having manuals all my life. Any advise is appreciated.

Where is the clunk coming from? Front, rear, underneath where transmission/transfer case would be?

The clunk is coming from underneath, seems like where transmition/tr case is.

I have the same thing happen. A soft think and a jerk after placing it in reverse, before moving. I have the v8. E70 2007 89k miles. Had the dealer look at it, and they said they could not find anything wrong.
I know a few folks recommend doing a transmission fluid flush/change or maybe transfer case fluid change as the car ages. The local dealer is not recommending it though. |

Internals on transmissions usually do not clunk and if they do, it is loud and forceful.
I am going to bet you have 1 of 3 things: Struts and strut mounts are worn Engine and or transmission mounts are worn A-arm bushings, ball joints, or tie rod ends are worn. One other possibility is the bolts connecting the undercarriage to frame are a slight bit loose, but this is unlikely and usually only a result of having those previously removed. |
