I hate lane departure and gesture control on my X5. So glad my F87 doesn't have that tech. Give me analog gauges, 6MT, RWD, and I'm good to go. I could have done without the electric seats to save some weight.

I think the new 2 series is better than the 3/4, but I wouldn't get it on this setup. Will see what the M2 can bring to the table, but my guess is that I will not be adding another 2 series to my garage.

Buffeting is a $4 fix.

BMW's current design philosophy is all about adding extremely busy elements, punctuated with overstyled accessories to be the most loudest/in-your-face vehicle on the road.

The narcissist appeal is through the roof, but unfortunately it ages out as quickly as it arrives.

Hopefully the next design team can right the ship.
With competitors like Genesis and Kia doing such good work, it seems they really want their junk to stand out on front street.

That being said, I bet this thing will still be fun to drive!

Pretty sure the whole chip shortage debacle has added value to your car too

Only due to the current used car market bubble. It'll pop once production starts ramping back up after the chip shortages and you'll be back holding the bag

The supra is pretty ugly. Especially when compared to the FT-1 we were shown. Like a great valu version

You sit a lot more comfortable inside this one compared to the cramped Supra. The Supra would have been a home run had it been built with adequate space inside like the original Supra’s were instead of turning it into a cramped MR2

Cause it's 2021 and not 2001

People's taste and expectations have changed since the E46...performance has also come a long way...people expect race car style gears on their M parts

Look at the 992 GT3 RS vs the 996 GT3 RS from Porsche

F87 may be OK without these, but F22 owners are in for almost certain disappointment if they think their cars will hold value against the new car which packs all of these things plus a significantly improved interior and next-generation driving dynamics. If the G87 drives like a shorter wheelbase G80/82, the F87 will be in a similar boat (though I think Comp will hold firm; it’ll always have strong enthusiast appeal).

Spot on.

I can't wait for the next M2C LCI now.
I am liking the current design language of the 2 series. Overall it is much better than the G80.

The M2 and M2 competition are going to look really good.

I'm not talking about holding value, I'm talking about missing out on features and the need to upgrade to the latest tech. A lot of this tech ages very fast and will feel old in 2-3 years. The "new" digital dash already feels old. Of all the things listed, the only thing I would actually want on my F87 is the Adaptive Suspension but that is well discussed as the M2CS has it. In a driver's car, the other stuff is not relevant to me.

Have you ever been in a G series? I have F87 and G20, that F87 is so outdated really, so i suggest you go and spend time with a G series, basically everything is better and faster.
But to each to their own, id you dont value 10x better infotainment system and a digital gauge cluster, we're all good

I had a M440 loaner for a few days. I'm familiar with the new system. I found the digital dash to be slow and not nearly as informative as the corresponding Audi or MB dashes. Obviously IDRIVE 7 is a massive improvement. My point being that this stuff is nice in a car like a G20, but not really relevant in a pure driver's car imo.
