Exclamation X5M posible rod issue

Hey guys.

I purchased recently a X5M 2010.

I have made all fluid changes, and notice a small ticking in the left bank and removed the air filter box and the sounds is louder.

I checked the oil filter and it has very very little copper shavings.

The truck is pulling strong and no other issues.

I have researched and i know is a possible bearing issue,
My concerns is if the issue is rod bearing or main bearing.

And if its rod bearing is the crack shaft reusable.

Anyway to verify wether the issue is rod or main bearing issue.

Honestly if its a main bearing i am selling to a junker

If its a rod bearing am willing to fix it.

If I remove the lower oil pan can i inspect the rod bearings?

Can you get a recording of the noise? It could be something else.

Does the ticking increase with speed of the engine?

Ticking is most likely the injectors. Although they all tick, some are louder than others. Chasing a tick on this vehicle will keep you in a miserable money pit loop.
When I rebuild mine at almost 100k miles, the main bearings were like new but the rods were a different story. Everytime i changed my oil, there would be glitter metallic particles that would settle down the drain pan.
You can inspect the rod bearing with the lower pan removed but the oil pump needs to be removed also. Then you can only inspect rods 4 and 8 , maybe 3 and 7 due to the opening.
If anything,1 and 5 may show the most wear because its the farthest away from the oil pump.

So the only way to make a proper inspection is to dismantle the full lower subframe, to be able to inspect the 1-5?

And to answer the questions

When the car is cold the car sounds good. When it warms up the sounds comes from the left side. When you remove the oil cap and the filter box the sound is more noticeable, and the sound is mecanical.

When warm and you rev it a bit the sound is louder.

The car otherwise make a great idle and smooth acceleration

That would be best and easy way but not the only way.
It requires the upper oil pan removal to inspect the front bearings. For the upper pan to come out, the passenger axle needs to come out and the front differential to unbolt from the pan as well if you decide to leave the subframe as is. Make sure your hands can access the 2 upper differential bolt.

If you decide to inspect, order new rod bolts ahead as they are one time use stretched.
