2010 BMW X6M Low Pressure Fuel Sensor

Vehicle being diagnosed 2010 BMW X6M.

4.4l v8 (s63) First production year

Issue: Car starts idles for a while and cuts fuel out until stalling.

Troubleshooting Workflow:

Towed to BMW of Vista
Diagnosed as low fuel pressure sensor error estimated repair quote $950.00USD
Repairs declined vehicle towed to a private garage

BMW ISTA Diagnostics: See attached DOCs
Fuel low-pressure sensor fitted (old) SENSATA pn: 13537614317
Workflow recommendation to change sensor to (new) BOSCH pn: 13537622231
Note: Changing from old to new due to fitment of the BOSCH housing a new and updated fuel rail is required pn:13537622850 (new with sensor)
Old fuel rail with SENSATA sensor pn: 13538649966
FCP EURO retro fit kit without fuel rail upgrade SKU: KIT-13537622231KT

Orderd one FCP EURO kit
Installed retrofit kit.
Cleared all codes with ISTA/D no stored faults
Car test Driven for 3 mile loop
Car passes test drive
The vehicle is parked and left idle for 10 minutes after test drive
Vehicle show fuel pump error (infotainment) and stall out.

Retro fit kit removed and the sensor is replaced with a brand new SENSTA sensor old disregarding the upgrading of fuel rail.
Car turns on and idles at 750rpm (normal)
Car test Driven for 3 mile loop
Car fails test drive goes into limp mode under hard acceleration in M mode limps last mile to garage
The vehicle is parked restarted and error codes cleared with ISTA/D
Vehicle show fuel pump error (infotainment) and stall out.

Old Sensor left in place due to the nature of not replacing the fuel rail ordered 1 HPFP (vehicle has 2)
New HPFP is installed
Car test Driven for 3 mile loop
Car passes test drive
The vehicle is parked and left idle for 10 minutes after test drive
Vehicle show fuel pump error (infotainment) and stall out.

Vehicle cooled and HPFP swapped to the opposite bank
Car test Driven for 3 mile loop
Car passes test drive
The vehicle is parked and left idle for 10 minutes after test drive
Vehicle show fuel pump error (infotainment) and stall out.

Old HPFP reinstalled.

FACT: Low Fuel Pressure sensor is part of a mechanical test routine and is not part of FAULT elimination via ISTA/D
Theory: issue lies within EKPS module or low-pressure fuel pump location double gas tank under rear seats.
Recommended repair: throw money at the problem

Yes it was. Low pressure fuel pump failed. There is a service bulletin that extends warranty to -0 years on it. The high pressure fuel rail should be upgraded to Bosch due to the revised sensor.

Did you code the new EKPS yourself?

So I can do that but I never installed the née EKPS as the old one I salvaged just had to rewire the harness. Which BMW sells a kit for you can find it on ECS website.
