e70 rear lower control arm replacement DIY?
Anyone have a DIY for the rear lower control arm bushing replacement?
I have to replace the 4 bushings (2 per each side on part number 10 in the picture) and want to get an idea of what all is entailed before I get in there. Thanks in advance. Here is a pic of our x5, it's a 2007 3.0. |

If bushings are sold without arms they need to be pressed In. So you would need a press tool with the fittings. it's not a hard job if your mechanically inclined. YouTube ball joint DIY

Yeah I knew the bushings needed to be pressed in. I'm 100% able to do the job myself, was looking more for the DIY on removing the actual lower control arm (rear) so I could see how long it would take etc. Searched and searched and nothing is out there. I'm assuming just unbolt the bolts where the 2 bushings are and then the nut on the ball joint, then all I would have to do is use a pitchfork to disconnect the ball joint. Just was looking for some insight on any issues that people have run into. Thanks.

I wouldn't use a pitchfork (its a pickle fork actually) to disconnect ball joints as you have a high chance of ripping the rubber boot, use a ball joint separator tool instead.
