2013 X5 50I Issues I am having?

I work from home. I drive about 8K miles a year. I drive this car hard when I have it. I bought the car 3 years ago with 35K miles (2013 X5 50I). It has 60K now. I have had to replace tires and rotors only. Now....I have reduce engine codes that have went off 2 times in the last month when I got onto the highway. I had to pull over and start the car again. It was fine. Also, there is something rattling in the front of my car when I hot little bumps. Should I take it to my local BMW dealer or corner Euro repair? I almost want to get an extended warranty.

Putting 25K miles on a 50i and only doing tires and rotors is pretty remarkable IMO. I have an Excel document of all the work done to mine and I have 69K, not much more than you.

I've gotten a reduced power message a few times over the years, but my dealer said no codes were stored, so... Never did have reduced power, just the message.

Most here will say find an Indy shop, though in my area the good shops charge nearly what the dealer does. I go to the dealer out of convenience (open weekends, service loaners, shuttles...most Indy shops don't have any of that).

I don't think you'll have much luck finding a good warranty on an E70 50i at this point, at least not w/o paying an outrageous price. Many companies (Route 66 & CNA just to mention 2) no longer write these vehicles. If you call around you might find something, but make sure you get an exclusionary warranty or they'll be too many exclusions for it to be worth your money.

It's most likely your ignition coils. Easy enough to replace however you should get a foxwell 510 or better or bimmer geeks pro tools so you can read the BMW specific codes and know exactly what's going on... speaking of the 50i NOBODY should own a 50i or M unless you fit at least one of the three criteria: 1- Rich...2- can do all the work on it yourself....3 -Extended Warranty.... I have a 50i with 146K on it so I know....

Sell it to get a 35i or X5M if you still want a V8 (more reliable than a 50i)

No offense to OP but from his post it doesn't like he is going to be geeking out on those tools or reading any codes himself...
Got to tailor your advice to the recipient.

True but even those that don't work on their own cars should be educated on what's going on with their car. A quick bmw code search on the web and you can arm yourself with the knowledge of what it will most likely take to repair so when you take it to the shop to have it repaired, they will at least give you a reach around while they are working you over as they know you are not the typical BMW owner they can take FULL advantage of🤣

Yeah, was seriously considering buying a 50i, but got the M instead. and picked up a decent extended warranty. How do you like the F85 compared to the E70? was thinking of leasing one next time I trade in.

If you're thinking of leasing an X5 M might as well wait for the new G series to come out in 2020.

I admit I am not the car guy that will look under the hood and spend the time. I do appreciate the advice from the forum. I am bringing it to the dealership today. I have an appointment for an oil change and a free lift to inspect any issues. I am sure they will list a bunch of issues. I already received a call to see if I am looking to trade my car in. I plan on keeping this car. I think it is the best body style and I bought the car for the V8. I love the power. Hopefully she will have minor issues only. Keep you guys posted.

E70 is nice and still nice ! (Drive like a car)

F85 is nice, but drive different ! (The drive and feeling is more like a powerful SUV than a car)

If you want lease a X5M.... wait for the next X5M F95
