I'm in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. There's a lot of fluctuation with the weather but I think you'll enjoy the winters down here.

It's a lot of work keeping carbon black clean.

swapped out the worn switch..

The truck is new to me, and this was one of the only pieces aside from the center console trim that looked worn.

Hi, what size are your wheels? I wanted to order a set but ETK shows NLA for the 20" wheel option. I came up with ..

82-16-0-416-162/163 (I plan for 20" for next summer)

I might still get the set for 19" wheels in the meantime.

20" and staggered.

Could not find the mud flaps anywhere on ebay. Cheap chinese knockoffs did not fit.

Finally ordered from the BMW dealer and got it installed by them.

Spent some time with my x5 today: replaced coils and spark plugs, turbo coolant lines, cabin air filter ( the one in passenger foot well), finally removed the phone cradle in the glove box and replaced it with oem cover.

Nice man, you were busy... I always hear of everyone removing their cradle, I added one back with the wireless charger.

Thanks! I changed the whole assembly. I was unsure about those online button replacements, so I just ended up getting a new OE unit.

I wanted to get rid of my cradle, but a wireless charger might actually be something i'd use. Which one did you get?

I added a picture, it's OEM BMW. It snaps in. You can find it online as they're only in Europe I think? Open the console, throw your phone in, turn on the Bluetooth and roll out. It charges no problem.

Thanks to a member here for the PNs, I purchased and swapped out the front reflectors to clear instead of amber OEM. I'm hoping to get paint matched inserts at some point, but these look good enough for now. I also swapped the iDrive control knob for a //M branded one I got on ebay. I was skeptical because it was cheap and shipped directly from China, but it looks good and honestly makes it easier to use.

I had planned on doing an oil change as well... But I didn't realize I needed an 86mm/16 flute oil filter housing wrench, so that will have to wait until next weekend. The computer doesn't recommend a change for another 10K, but I usually have run my BMWs on 5K intervals despite what the computer says.

iDrive knob looks good - how does it feel compared the stock on in terms of sturdiness? Cheap plastic feel or no?

It feels as solid as the original. It's really just a sleeve and cover, so the original knob is still under it. I only had to remove the cap to allow the light to be transmitted up to the new cover. The biggest different in feel for me is that the larger circumference of the controller fits in my hand better and is easier to use.

So since I'm all about preventative maintenance, I decided to swap out the MAP sensor (35d). I have the service records and it had never been changed. Although I dont have any issues or codes, it was cheap enough for me to take care of it today..

..BUT, as sometimes things go..the lower small part of the grommet that stays inside the manifold broke off and fell inside the intake. As i was pulling out the grommet, the rubber broke in half. It might be about 1/4 inch in size over all, its just the tip. I tried to retract it for 20 minutes, and no go. I started the car, no funny noises or sounds, nothing feels weird. Hopefully I'm good until my next oil service where I will be replacing my valve cover and take another look and see if it can be found and removed(My Indy, not me)..

Should I be worried?

You will probably be ok, worst case scenario is if it just happened to get wedged on the valve seat and jammed the valve open enough for the Piston to contact it but that would be like a one in a million chance. Being that it's rubber so small it wouldn't damage anything if it got stuck in the combustion chamber and would be vaporized in a few min. It could damage your turbo if it hits the turbine at high speed but most likely would be pretty soft from the heat and it would just slice it up

Installing Active Autowerke downpipes and Velos Stage 2+ tune today. Might do the spark plugs as well if I have time. Fingers crossed for a smooth install! Buddy has a shop at his house with a lift and all so that's a huge plus

Downpipes are a mofo, but as you said, with a buddy and lift, that changes everything!

I found a Vorsteiner carbon valence on craigslist, picked it up and installed it this morning. The valence has a small amount of damage on it from an accident(not noticeable on my black X5M), so the owner had it replaced. He was selling it super cheap, so I decided it was worth picking up. He has a white X5M that was absolutely pristine, one of the cleanest I've seen!

So nice to have friends with lifts! Enough of my friends have space, but none with lifts

Good luck with the install!
