I can't believe I've never known about this. I just ordered one immediately, I've always wondered how BMW didnt include a clip or holder of any sort to hold this stupid thing up!

Also- I would love some info on the spare setups you guys have. I have an extra set of wheels, would a full sized wheel fit in there?!

I'm waiting on mine =) .. USPS screwed up, said its going to be "late" =/ ...

spare setup; im using stock spare under that cargo cover. I dont think a full size would fit, but I could be wrong. It doesn't look like it though..

LMK if it doesn't arrive soon...

I don't think a full size spare will fit. You can buy the wheel and foam insert new from BMW, the tire from tirerack, and an e53 jack and lug wrench used or new. The costs do add up quickly.

Here is a thread on the spares that I have posted in: https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...7#post12952307

These guys have complete spare kits if you want a no hassle solution where they provide everything:

Huh, I'll have to measure the space, see what I can finagle. Nice to have a donut for the rainy day...

I got my spare tire, wheel and tire from Bavarian Autosport and then the lug wrench and jack off ebay so all in $265. After blowing three runflats on the car at $300+ a piece, buying the spare and new, better performing tires at $105 a piece, it was money in my pocket. So when it came to get new tires on the SAV, just made sense to follow the same path.

Same here. The very first thing I did after getting my X5 was order 4 non rft's and the spare set-up. I've had too many issues in the past with run flats.

Now I'll be looking into getting the whole spare setup sometime. They're pricey!

+1 Even on my e90 335 I would rather sacrifice trunk space to a spare tire than run RFTs...

RFTs cost more for a tire that has a worse ride. Plus if you really run a RFT
"flat" for the 50 miles often the sidewall will break down and it won't be repairable. It gets you to your destination but then you need a new expensive tire so it is best not to use the RFTs when flat anyway...

For the price of RFTs you could probably just buy normal tires and call a flatbed tow truck every time you have a flat and it would still be cheaper than buying RFTs upfront. That is the Tesla approach, the model S doesn't have RFTs or a spare.

This is exactly what happened to me TWICE with my E90. Made it home but still needed new tires. The second time it happened I ordered regular tires the same night. Then I bought a full size rim on craigslist, threw one of the other run flats on it and left it in the trunk. If I need an Ikea run, we have the X5.

I have a couple left and am currently making a second batch which is in the queue at the waterjet shop. I should have them this week and then I need to bend them and send them off to powdercoat.

I can ship to Canada unfortunately it will cost about $14 more.
I have added a payment button for the kit with Canadian shipping on the webpage so that you can order easily.

If you order soon I can ship right away, if I run out then it will likely be 2 weeks to get the next batch ready.

I may bump the price a couple of dollars on the next batch to cover the powercoat costs. I didn't want to increase the price at all for the first full batch as I greatly appreciate everyone that bought one before there were multiple reviews!

Thanks for your interest!

-Rich

I now have the next batch of kits in stock all powder coated and ready to ship.

I will hold the price for the next few weeks and then plan to bump it $2 to an even $60 for the kit.

Thanks to everyone that has already ordered!

Just a quick heads up if anyone is looking to order a cargo cover lift bracket kit.

I am down to my last 5 cargo brackets from this batch.

I will put in a new order but it might take a couple of weeks if I run out before then.

Thanks for everyone that has already ordered a kit!

Got any full sets left? Bracket and the shock? I’d like to order if you have them. I’m in Canada. Is the price on your site current?

Yes I have a few left and can ship on Monday.

I will be away from the house from the 31st to the 12th and I usually don't burden the wife with packaging up car stuff so it is best to order before my trip.

Thanks!
