Black X6 Phantom

Anybody still alive in this forum ? I fell in love with the E71 X6 as soon as I saw it on the road. I know it's a love/hate relationship with this particular SUV but IMHO the E71 rear > F16. Bought this coupe to eventually replace my M3 for all season driving. Will probably upgrade in a couple of years.

And so I am starting a build thread on my 2011 BMW X6 35i in Black Sapphire Metallic. Red Chateau Nevada leather and HUD was a must. I actually love the heads-up display. Here is the car stock when I bought it last November with 98k km on the clock.

First few mods... blacked out grills and OE wheels. Installed LUX H8 180 as well.

Have full LED rings on my M3 so I wasn't 100% satisfied with the LUX, so I wanted to upgrade that right away. Decided to upgrade to Orion V4 rings, black out headlights, install honeycomb projectors with red demon eyes. Black line tail lights also on the way...

By the way, it is a PITA to do the headlight mod. Bumper cover, fender and liners need to be removed to properly extract the headlights. Totally worth it though if you have a good lights guy. Paid $800 in total and looks just as good, if not better than the LED retrofit conversion from stealership ($5000 mod lol)...

I too fell in love with the E71 at first sight. By far my all time favorite vehicle was my '10 X6 50i. It was a luxurious beast. The exhaust note gave me goose bumps. And I agree on the rear. I still prefer the looks of the E71 over the F16/86. BMW made it pretty, it's not as menacing looking as it used to be. Enjoy the ride.

Thanks bro ! Lots of maintenance to do at my current KMs. Vanos bolts, thermostat and water pump were already replaced lol. Belts/tensioners next and maybe fluid flush. Any pics of your old X6 50i?

New headlights installed. 20% tint all around to complete the look. Also winter tires ugly, I know.

Note: there's no more condensation. I got a little excited and washed the car after installing and the glue was still curing. All good now!

Umnitza Orion v4 rings are super bright. You can see they used my pics on the website lol. Way brighter than the square bottom set they sell. Almost too bright. Very happy with this mod!

X6M front bumper conversion... stock fenders retained. I've seen a lot of members recommending that you need to replace your fenders with X6M fenders. That is NOT necessary, they are basically the same minus M side LEDs so save your money for other mods. You will need all X6M front bumper trim pieces, including license plate mounts and fender trim (arches/flares). PDC and sideview camera can be re-routed easily. To do this conversion, your air ducts will need to be cut. This probably took the longest time to make it look OEM and not a hack job lol. Competent shop is key to make this conversion! If you want to save more $$ and not worry about fitment than go with M-performance bumper instead. Other than that, plug-n-play! Hope this helps...

First cuts... To test fit bumper. Final version is clean, I promise!

There's a lights guy local in Ontario. If you can ship your headlights to him, he can customize it for you. Check out Wired Ridez.

Thanks!

Freshened up and protected my interior with these Tuxmats. Installed these over the winter but I'm going to use them all season. Very easy to remove, rinse off and put back in. Makes the car look more classy indeed. Great alternative to Weathertech and works just as good. I also wrapped some of my bamboo trim in brushed black steel. Can't figure out how to remove the centre console trim. Does anyone have any idea how to get the middle piece of trim off?

The truth? When you first posted pics of the interior, I loved the red/black interior, but then saw the wood trim and was disappointed. Wrapping it changed the interior drastically. Bootiful. My gf wants to do exactly the same thing on the wood trim of our ML350, though our trim is so dark, it doesn't come off as wood unless you really look at it closely.

I'm interested in those mats now that I've seen them. You're on the mark about the Weathertechs not really belonging in a higher-end vehicle. Do those fit on top of the Weathertechs and where did you get them?

Haha. Yea, I would never order wood trim. Price you pay for used cars . Got a lot of compliments on the brushed look. Looks identical to the OEM aluminium finish but blacked out. Wasn't that hard to do, I just need to figure out how to remove the centre console trim.

The Tuxmats are direct replacements for your car mats. They cover your carpet and extend all the way up to the plastic (really good for winter or messy trips). I ordered mine directly from their website (tuxmat dot ca) but they're also available on eBay or Amazon.

Since the shrouds are painted, when I do get pulled over I can turn the glows off with a switch inside the cabin and blame it on the paint lol.

That rear diffuser is nice. Where you get it from and was it a straight fit after the removal of the stock OEM gray diffuser?

It's the Lumma designed one. I believe I got it from eBay. Direct bolt on after removing the silver piece.
