Wheel ET number
Hello everyone,
So i’m trying to buy a set of 18” wheels with winter tires to my 2010 X5 E70. The thing is the wheels i found on marketplace are ET55 size, and the factory size is ET46 if i’m not wrong. Can I fit those et55 wheels, does it make any difference with the steering or something? Thanks for the answers in advance! |

How wide are the rims you plan on using…
If stock: “Compared to your existing wheel, this new wheel will have an inner rim which is 9mm closer to the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 9mm less than before.” Test fit… and if necessary…grab some 10mm spacers and longer bolts. https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.ph...8.5&offset2=55 |

When considering different wheel offsets for your 2010 X5 E70, it's crucial to ensure a proper fitment without compromising handling or causing any issues.
The offset (ET, or offset value) determines how far the wheel sits within the wheel well. A higher ET value (like ET55) means the wheels will sit more inward compared to a lower ET value (like ET46). In your case, the ET55 wheels you've found will likely sit more inward compared to the factory ET46 wheels. This difference in offset might not only affect the appearance but could also impact the handling and clearance within the wheel well. With a higher offset (ET55), there's a chance that the wheels might come closer to the suspension components or inner wheel well. This could potentially lead to rubbing issues, especially when turning or when the suspension compresses. It's recommended to double-check with a knowledgeable mechanic or a specialist who can assess the compatibility of these wheels with your X5 E70. They can provide a more accurate insight into whether the ET55 wheels will fit without causing any steering, suspension, or clearance issues. |
