E70 White LED Instrument with HUD?

Hello All,

Just joined the forum. I have a question. If an E70 X5 has HUD (Head Up Display), will the instrument cluster have white LED (where it stays dark/invisible when not started and can switch between white and orange depending on the lighting condition)? I have a 2011 535xi with HUD where it is white+orange and a 2015 X5 with HUD where it's also white+ orange. But then I was looking at at the E70 photos (specifically 2011-2013) and from the photos, the instrument cluster does not look like white illuminated (but simple white) for the ones that have HUD. Can someone please confirm? And this specifically for E70 and not F15. Thanks in advance.

My 2012 is all orange.

Thank you. That's interesting that a 2011 5 series with HUD has that electroluminiscent display but the X5 doesn't.

The E70 X5 was based on the 2003-2010 E60 5 series, and in 2011 the 5 series switched to the F10 platform.

Ah, that's interesting to know. So, what year did E70 started having HUD? And I believe your 2012 has HUD and still you don't see the white lighted instrument cluster but only orange, correct?

Mine has HUD, and the both the HUD and cluster lighting in orange. Mine is a 2012 5.0, but M models might have had white lit cluster/hud, not sure.

2010, with the introduction of the LCI model, afaik. My 40d is from 03/2010 and has HUD...don't wanna miss it anymore to be honest.
