Thought there was an e70 picture thread? I can’t find it.
Here’s the 35i, third row seater putting in work with half of the third row in use in Utah.

Replaced Throttle Valve

Replaced Throttle Valve...

So my wife called the day saying the car was shuttering when shutdown. I'd experienced this once or twice, but nothing consistent previously.

Later she called and said there is a loud clicking noise coming from under the hood, even after the car is shutdown and locked up.

When she got home, I found the throttle body shaft (with the spring wound around it), pulsating and making the loud clicking noise. Even after she shut it down, it was pulsating like it was stuck and trying to turn.

Eventually disconnected the wiring harness from the throttle body to stop it. And left it unplugged for a few days while obtaining the parts..

FCP Euro for the win (had northing but good experiences thus far with them). Order parts on Thursday, Delivered on Friday (with he holiday really thought I'd have to wait till this week for the parts to arrive)..

Anyway, was an easy job to replace the Valve, but the O-ring was not sealing well, and hasn't for years would be my guess. The mess created by the Oil that seeped out was everywhere. Less than an hour to replace the part, several hours tryign to clean things up as best I could..

Replaced both the o ring on the throttle valve as well as the seal on the charge hose, hoping no more oil everywhere..

Shuts down as it should now, will check in a day or so and make sure the code has cleared.

I know the emissions contribute to oil in the intake, and the resulting carbon builds-up (EGR looked like crap), but this much oil normal? There was literally a small pool of it in the egr valve, and the charge hose is pretty oily as well. CCV Bad? Just need a Catch Can? Hoping this is not an indication of a Turbo Issue?

Pics attached..

I gave x5 to rebuild the headlights due to poor light, clouding of the glass and the appearance of water inside. Replacement of glasses, lenses, reflectors and painting masks in black. In my opinion, it will look fresh this way.

Today I changed the rear left lamp on the trunk, but it turned out that in addition to the water inside, the fog lamp block was rotten, without which the lamp itself would not work. As a result, the new lamp does not work (
They repaired a broken wire in the front center PDC that was shutting down the entire system. This one did not want to give an error and worked properly while the diagnostics were connected. Only when I was about to leave home, the error appeared!
Oh, and I also decided to change the gear in the trapeze of the wipers, because they did not work correctly and after the cycle was completed, the wipers rose sharply by several centimeters. I’ll turn the new gear immediately after installation and cut the teeth. I had to assemble with an old gear, which actually turned out to be in good condition. The trapezium of the wipers will soon have to be completely changed due to large backlashes.
But the air filter changed the first time without problems.
headlights after painting the masks in black look great in my opinion!

Spent money. New Ccv hose to replacemy compeltely crumbled away oem one. It was held together by oil grime, and when I cleaned it off, there wasnt much of it left. I'm hoping replacing it will stem some of the oil coming off my M57!
Other than that, my X5d is pretty solid at just under 305k miles. It drives wonderfully after i replaced the entire suspension, and continues to be a comfortable, powerful long distance cruiser. Also, it still makes cool spooly noises.

broke this little hose over the weekend. a 3/4 heater hose I had laying around, saved the day!

I swear BMW make these brittle on purpose, as a source of revenue

a cut here

then the broken hose piece slides right off

repeat on the other side, and you'll end up with these 2 pieces

trim hose to size, and slide them onto the barbed fittings

its not the most pretty, but it works!

saved myself $47, hooray!

My Lady decided to put on her summer tires, (first time since we bought her last May),also got the brake fluid changed, ready for appr. 4000 km within the next 5 or 6 weeks. Transfer case oil had also been changed a fortnight ago, really worth it, so yeah, should be good to go.

I've got a slight shimmy on light acceleration again, which feels like the last bad wheel bearing I did, but could aslo be a seizing up inner front CV that I know blew its seal a while ago. I've got a new oem axle waiting to go in, but I'm driving up to vermont this weekend I'll hit 306k during the weekend which is cool. If anyone's splitting the fuel with me, I'll likely say screw the mileage and go faster than the speed limit on this trip.
