Noise from under center of car when turning - Help?
Dear All,
Firstly wishing you a happy new year. I've just bought a 'new to me' 2007 X5 with 110k on the clock. Happy with it except for a couple of things that maybe the more experienced members here might know more about. 1. When going slowly and turning there is an awful scraping, rotating noise from somewhere under the middle of the car - any ideas? 2. When moving off slowly car seems slightly hesitant in first - apart from that gearbox is lovely. Many thanks in advance for any help offered. |

I don't know, but based on your description I would start with the emergency brake. Maybe it's locked and engaged. GL

Update:
Sound is now happening when I accelerate at pretty much any speed. Think it is drive shaft, prop shaft related? Going into the garage tomorrow for diagnosis. Bit scared £££ |

Ok, so garage confirm that it is the center bearing on the propshaft.
They are going to send it away to a specialist company to have it rebuilt/changed. Anyone had this done before? |
