I have a question: do I need to purchase both the XHP flash license and the Map Pack to do a tune?

Still waiting for the X50i sadly. I send them a message periodically on their facebook page via messenger. You should probably do the same. Will help our case along.

What's still left to do? I thought they have tunes for our TCU?

They do for ZF6HP in the M but not the ZF8HP in the 50i. The e70 50i has a unique TCU that's different from the ZF8HP used in any other model and why it's last. Really sucks as I keep hitting the torque limiters in my 50i, frustrating to watch the boost drop because the nanny TCU says you have to much power...

Looks like the E70 Xdrive50i XHP flash is out. Just purchased it and flashed my transmission yesterday. Did the Stage 3. So far so good! Big difference on everything. In D mode car is smooth as usual but the car is much more alive. Never seem to be in the wrong gear where as before I found sluggish behavior until the transmission sluggishly shifted to a lower gear. In DS & M mode it shifts super fast, a big jolt and rush forward between shifts. Takes getting used to as it feels a bit unnatural but the shifting is super fast. Rev Matching is subtle but I plan to re-flash with 10% increase in rev matching downshifts, I'd like a more significant throttle blip. You can go up to 50%. So I'll play with that in the coming days. Love it so far.

Anyone else get the flash?

I have it, I have tried all three stages, have about 400 miles on it since I did it. Best improvement was removal of torque limits as I am running the ESS flash too.

Shifting is much quicker, even in stage 1 but still to long of a delay between the gear release and engagement, this is most likely due to the high-mileage on mine however as I am at 160k miles. I did replace all the solenoids however and my adaptations all look pretty good, none of the quick fill times are over 39ms

With that being said, I think I'm going to reset the adaptations while it's on the stage 1 flash and see if it will improve after the relearn process.

Can you take a screen shot of your adaptations? I'm curious to see what your fill times and pressure adjustments are.

One other thing. I re-flashed stage 3 with 50% downshift blips which is the maximum allowed and I don't see or hear any blipping on downshift. Once in a while I'll noticed a blip going down to 1st gear from 2nd but I can't seem to replicate it. Do you have the same issue?

One more question, when you add customizations to the Map for example adding more blipping or torque limits do you have to reflash the full stage 3 map?

Thanks

I've had stage three on mine now since it's release. Super crisp shifts, increased line pressure, and blip downshifts all the way up.

No complaints!

Hmm I don't have throttle blips at all it seems. Am I activating it correctly?
I go to Flash settings>Thorttle Blips M-Mode>Flash Stage 3?

Here is mine, not so different from yours but perhaps it is enough as shifting is still very delayed, you can see below in the jb4 and draggy logs, I am losing almost a second total in shift times for the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts not to mention a nearly a half second delay just in the one foot roll out. The throttle stays nearly closed much to long. I would be down in the 3.6 to 3.8 second range if it were not for this.

I am not blaming Xhp for this, as it was like this before the XHP install...I have more work to do to nail down the exact cause but will start with resting the adaptions with the stage 2 installed and go from there.

Got it. Does your car blip on downshifts in M-mode? I contacted XHP because mine did not and received the following response.

"This is a V8 unique setting inside the DME, that prevents throttle blips on down-shifts, if you are not pushing the pedal at least a tiny bit. The transmission "requests" a throttle blip form the DME, but its deactivated there. If you want to have the blips, without having to push the pedal you have to chang this setting inside the DME."

I tried this and in fact it does blip when i keep my foot on the throttle just a tiny bit.

Do you have a 6 cylinder or a V8? I was told blipping downshifts are not possible unless you change a setting in the engine ECU.

I flashed mine last night. I don't know if it did a backup of the stock TCU tune. If it did, it was really fast. It only took about 10 minutes to flash once I got it communicating. Below are the adaptations for mine. I haven't taken the time to read much about the adaptation values yet. I only drove the car a few mies.
First impressions....

In standard Drive mode - The car shifts as smoothly as before. It definitely drops down gears much better than before in standard drive mode. Responsiveness to the gas peddle is much improved.

In Sport mode - The car shifts more aggressively without delays between shifts.
It'd definitely more performance oriented and aggressive with keeping the power on.

My car is N55 with 8hp

My car downshift blips no problem. I do not need to touch the throttle to initiate the blip.

Might be a V8 thing?

Yes, seems to be a V8 thing.

Today I got the following Transmission error code. Any idea if it's related?

Same thing with mine, about 7.5 minutes for the flash. It never asked anything about a back up.. Hoping it did.
