What is this piece?

I have a 2012 X5M and I noticed this broken piece while checking on the exhaust. Sorry for the vague pic, I can send a better one if needed. This cracked piece is right in front of the muffler area - driver's side.

Radius rod, or a compression strut.

Just helps keep the rear end components, and rear sub frame components sturdy, and in tact. They break all the time.
