M wheels on a Non M Diesel

I have a 2012 Diesel X5 and am looking at a great deal on a set of OEM BMW 299M Wheels . I have been told that I will need a set of spacers for the rear wheels Can anyone explain what I need, Why, and where I can get them from without spending a bunch of money ... Thanks

You need someone to weigh in that understands wheel offsets better than me.

I can say this much - the 20" 299M is the same width front and rear as style 214, the 20" optional wheel on the 35d Sport Package, and the offsets are almost identical. The fronts have the same offset, the rears are slightly different (ET35 on the 299M, ET37 on the 214). This is probably why someone recommended a rear wheel spacer for you. Not sure what size you need though

There's a lot of brands out there, and a lot of vendors who sell them. Wheel spacers are not expensive. I have the MS spacers from EAS on my M3 - https://europeanautosource.com/macht...e-chassis.html

Another thing you should probably note as well - if you don't currently have fender flares, the 299M's are gonna poke out a bit. Not a desirable look for most people, and will also result in extra road debris getting kicked up onto your lower door sections & rear wheel arches.

I purchased my 2012 e35d new in 2012 and put M wheels on right away. I only had to switch out the fender flares. Major upgrade in looks. The X5 Diesel came stock with 10s all the way around with 18in wheels. All X5M wheels will fit. 20s and 21s without spacers. I would highly recommend an alignment since the toe and camber seemed to be set different. My first set of tires wore very uneven but the second set with a fresh alignment did much better.

M611 X5/X6M Wheels on a 2011 X5 35d

Thanks in advance for any expertise regarding the following questions.
I am in the final stage of purchasing a 2011 BMW X5 35d with the Sport Package (hence sport suspension). Part of the deal is that the owner is going to switch out the current 20” sport wheels for the BMW M611 wheels (from the newer X5M or X6M) and a new set of non run flat Pirelli P Zero tires. The Pirelli P Zeros are 285/40/20 up front and 325/35/20 in the rear. The specs for the original sport wheels (Y Spoke) are 20 x 10 with 40 mm offset up front and 20 x 11 with a 37 mm offset in the rear. The M611 wheels are 20 x 10 with a 40 mm offset in the front and 20 x 11.5 with a 38 mm offset in the rear.
I would like to confirm that this new setup with the M611 staggered wheels and Pirelli P Zero tires will fit and not pose any unforeseen problems or need any spacers or other addition to work properly. Also, will the ecu need to be reprogrammed after installation of this new tire/wheel combination to insure the speedometer and mileage gauge are accurate?

have a look here: https://www.bmwstylerims.com/bmw-whe...#BMW-Series-X5 , it will tell you what rims can be fitted on the x5 also you have a small calculator with visual aid how the new rims will fit. Small deviations a couple of mm in case of the offset won't hurt much, but make sure you keep the overall height of the wheel. hope it helps.

I don't think this is correct, as im almost positive the E70/E71 X5M/X6M have an odd sized rear hub. Hence an adapter is needed for rears to fit on a non-m e70. Obviously there are "M package" wheels where this doesn't apply, as they were meant for a non-m e70.

Newer F85 gen has normal sized hub front and back I believe

The e70 hub is 74.1

The x5m wheels have different sized hubs on the front(74.1) and the rears(72.5), which is why you would need a spacer/hub adaptor on the rear to make them work on an Non M e70.

I just recently put M wheels on my E70 X5. I simply took it to a machine shop and had them bore out the center hub. Once done, they fit perfectly with non need for spacers or adapters. Just find a shop and spend a little money to do it right.
