bsw audio standard hifi upgrade worth it?
So we just got our x5, and i did not look much into it as its the wifes car, but after listening to it compared to my 335i that came with the top of the line audio option, i must say this standard hifi audio sucks pretty bad.
it has the standard hifi that came in the 2007 model e70. anyways, not finding much on the forums about people upgrading the audio on this line with the bsw packages. IF i get the speakers for 600, and the amp for 1k, will i notice a big improvement, something that will make me say wow.... 1500 is a big price to pay and not be happy with it. were thinking just doing the stage one speakers, and the amp, and leaving the oem underseat subs. because id rather spend money for subs on the JL stealth box. |

I think it would be more cost-effective to source the oem hifi parts from ebay or somewhere else because it should just be plug and play.

Ive heard good things about the upgraded bimmertech amp in other platforms. If this is anything like my e39, when I replaced my dsp amp with a custom crossover and alpine amp, I noticed tremendous sound improvement with the stock speakers. Crystal clear sound, good bass. I was very happy and surprised how good the stock speakers sounded with decent power supplied to them.

I replaced my speakers with the bavsound stuff, and after looking at what is factory, frankly they look decent, and just need more power, better xover and eq'ing.

So what are the audio levels with e70? In pulling details from my VIN the car has the "Individual Audio". Is the next level "Hi-Fi" then the best level being "Top Hi-Fi"?

+1 to Ryan and Mitch!
Try that first, stock speakers could sound much better. Then you still have the option of replacing them after if you want.

Standard sound system: 645A US Radio - 2011 35i/35d (leaves a lot to be desired, 6 speakers total I believe) 676A Hi-Fi - 2011 50i, and all 2012-2013 35i/35d/50i Optional sound system for all LCI X5's, non ///M: 677A Hi-Fi Professional For the X5M, I believe the base system was 677A Hi-Fi professional, with the optional system being 752A Individual Audio. I have that in my M3, it's nothing special. In fact, I think 676A in my X5 sounds better. |
