2011 X5 Maintenance Schedule

May be this a re-post but i am looking for a maintenance schedule for my 2011 X5 , i ve got 57k mile on it and don't want to go with extended warranty or maintenance package being offered by BMW.

Being a DIY savvy i believe i should be able to handle most of the regular maintenance items such as filters , plugs, oil , brakes etc.

Secondly, are there any known problems that can happen at higher miles for e.g.: bad water pump at xxxxx miles? or a belt change may be?

Please Help!

FYI - its a used X5 and didn't come with owners manual that i can refer too for help.

You can go to BMW's site, register there and your car VIN to download manuals for your car.

Does anyone know what things are prone to go bad at what mileage?

Let's just say I'd never own one without a warranty. My friend had a 2008 X5 3.0. He bought it when it was still under warranty, but decided to roll the dice and not get an extended warranty. Not even half a year later, he had already spend thousands replacing the A/C and dealing with an engine that was leaking oil. Quite a bit more than an extended warranty would have cost him.

He finally just ditched it and bought a Tahoe this year.

Other than what the onboard computer tells you through the menus, this guide mentions somethings:
http://www.bmwsections.com/docs/x5/

You can google harder than I did, all I used was "e70 maintenance."

Actually i downloaded this manual after registering at BMW. It does not have any scheduled maintenance schedule.

But it has a section on maintenance right, which refers you to mainly the onboard computer and service info... There is your answer.

That is no such thing as a maintenance schedule on a modern BMW. When the computer alerts you to maintenance, you do it. Not that I agree with that but that is the reality. There are some items which are not in the computer like spark plugs on the TT motor I think are 45k miles. The best bet is go go by the old school schedules of the past. I would start by cutting that 15k oil service down to 7500ish.

What about the ZF8 transmission? Is it lifetime fluid, or does it need drain/refill at certain mileage/time? My 2011 had 70, xxx miles on it currently.

It is better to do it between 60k to 80k miles.
I did mine at 60k even if it was working flawlessly.
After the fluid change, there has been a small improvement in smoothness between gear shifts and better MPG.

No fluid is lifetime, no matter what they say. I did the fluid and pan/filter at 58k miles on my ‘11 ZF8. I bought the kit delivered from FCPEuro for $254. It was a bit of a pain to follow the process and procedure, but saved me hundreds, and was very satisfying to know it was done right.

Is this the kit you bought? It's less $$ than you mentioned..

Nope. I bought the kit with OEM ZF fluid. Probably not a significant difference. I just thought since this would be the only time I change it, I’d go OEM all the way.
