Can the Soft Close feature be disabled?

So my driver side front soft close has stopped working and is now making a horrible noise every time I close the door. Im sure its the motor but I was hoping that maybe someone has done or knows how to shut the feature off completely. Anyone?

possibly you can take out the actuator or unplug it?

I would think that would work although I'm not sure if that would render the locking mechanism inoperable. I guess I could take the cover off and give it a shot. The new motors are like $200 on eBay and quite frankly, I'm not really concerned with the soft close working so I just figure not even fix it if I can just make it close regularly without this horrendous noise after closing.

Ill try to remember and look at my Protool tonight and see if the coding options are there. I want to say 'yes', but not 100% sure.

I have the same issue with my driver side front door but without the noise. Found a mint motor on ebay and got it. Look for a good used one on ebay...

It should be called the "automated mistress door close function" I swear some BMW engineer came up with this idea so he could come home late at night and not wake up the wife with a door slam)

Mine did the same thing, you can take off your door panel (videos on youtube how to do this)and pull the wiring harness from the motor. It's a bit tricky to do though as you have to do it all by feel unless you pull the entire motor and latch assembly. I am sure there is a fuse that controls the entire system but not sure what it is.

I replaced mine which wasn't a bad job, BMW left just enough room to do it without having to take out the window regulator, just loosen it a bit on the bottom.

If your decide to replace it, I would stay away from the cheap units, they are knock-offs and don't last long according to reviews. Get a lightly used one off eBay like mentioned above...or open up your wallet...I think I paid close to 400 for mine new....

Do the motors from the other doors interchange with this door? At least check, and then if yes can move the motor from a door that you rarely use to the driver door.

All good advice. Thanks guys. Moving one of the motors would be a great fix since let's be honest, the only two doors that get used most of the time are the fronts. I'll have to get in there and see if I can screw with it. I'm mayen I'll take it to my mechanic and see if he can't disable it with his computer.

You can remove the fuse if it annoys. I had fixed mine
