Update CIC Navgation Maps (USB Method)

You only need to upload the one file. If you extract it, you'll see that all 5 folder contents are in there.

If your maps now say 2020, then you are good. You don't need to upload each folder. It's just installing the same 2020 update on top of itself.

I can't make it work on my X5 from 2012. I don't know what I do wrong but nothing works.
I tried with 4 different USB Drive, all formated in FAT32. I can't get the 1b hex file, and when I put the maps on the drive, nothing happens when I insert the drive in the usb slot. I tried both in the glove box and middle console. The indicator light on the usb flashes.
Any idea to make this work?
Does the usb method works on all cars? Am I required to update with dvd instead. Is it possible to make a dvd from the linked usb files?

What size USB drive?
I only see it work on a 32GB drive, not a 64GB even if you partition it. Also, make sure you do a FULL format to FAT32, not just the quick format.

Ok i'm a pretty technical guy and can follow instructions i would say ok but the problem for me is it seems the code generator is giving out bad codes. I've tried them all and to no avail. 2010 X5 Premium maps 2020 help #smh

How do I find what version firmware I have of CIC? Or does it not matter for map updates. I have Western Europe 2020 right now, looking to upgrade to the latest. I'm not sure how to even find what is the latest version.

Holy Shit I would love to do this, but it wounds like a total PITA.
For the once a year when I drive by a new road, I can look at my phone.

I got the $30 eBay 2020 map updates and did it in my driveway. Just follow directions to a T and buy a new FAT32 USB stick 128GB

I've downloaded the latest map that I found (2022) but I'd like to know if 3D version work on it. I don't live in a big city so for the moment I've not saw any 3D building on my nav.

I got the 1b file, FSC code was generated. 32GB thumbdrive was fully(not quick) formatted to FAT32. NA premium 2021 map copied onto it... car doesn't recognize the memory card. Not sure what else I can do, try a different thumbdrive? Thanks.

Which USB port did you try? The one in the glovebox or the one in center armrest?

Hey, I tried to use the USB in the glove box but it does not start any MAP updates. It can see the USB and I can transfer MP3 to the hard drive but that's it.

I used different USB sticks, 4Gb, 8Gb, 16Gb 32 GB. All set to MBR partition and formatted with FAT32.

Any ideas why?
