P2457 Code on 2010 diesel x5
I recently acquired a 2010 x5 35d with about 95,000 miles. I replaced the malfunctioning thermostat about 3 months ago and followed the tightening procedure for the EGR cooler. Everything seemed to be fine until this week when I received the P2457 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooling System Performance code. What does this code actually mean? Is there a leak in the EGR cooler? If so, is there a risk of hydrolocking the engine if I continue to drive it? Any troubleshooting tips to help get this resolved would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Or it could be a clogged EGR cooler. If you aren't losing a lot of coolant then i don't think you should worry about the cooler leaking.
