CNA was recommended by couple guys here but the FI guy at the Toyota dealer said
"I'm sorry to have to inform you that we no longer contract BMWs. Our loss ratios on BMWs was too much and it was threatening our Toyota rates. We had to cut that business out for the greater good. Sorry I am unable to help. Good luck"

LOL the words out BMW cost more than they are quoting hence maybe why everyone is backing out offering warranties.

I ended up going with Zurich through my dealer that sold me the car.
It was bit more than I wanted to pay but better exclusions than Royal Protect via Autopom $4900 for 3 year/36,000. Looks like this plan covers seals and gaskets as well as the DHP air bags as its not specifically listed as exclusion. I also have 60 days to cancel and can be transferred to next owner.
$5600 for 3 year 36000 miles with Zurich.

Our comprehensive plan also includes the benefits of rental reimbursement, trip interruption and emergency roadside assistance. Comprehensive is an all-risk mechanical breakdown plan. All parts of your vehicle are covered except those specifically excluded. Exclusions All parts are covered with these exceptions: glass, lenses, sealed beams, light bulbs, wheels, wheel covers, tires, interior trim, moldings, bright metal parts, sheet metal, flexible body parts, weather strips, upholstery, convertible and/or vinyl top, paint, rust, physical damage, catalytic converter, exhaust system, brake rotors and drums, wiper blades, hoses, shock absorbers, batteries, carburetor, and throttle body assembly (except the injectors). Spark/glow plugs, drive belts, brake pads, brake linings and shoes, and manual clutch disc. Been researching and reading and talking to many people and really there's no one company better than others. Most good one's have either quit writing the policies on ///M cars or are very expensive.

Autopom and Carchex have decent reviews but they are just brokers and their policies really depends on who the under writers are ?

Most good 5/60 policies are in $5-$6000 range. Zurich $7800, Easy care $8500 and Fidelity $11,500 and these were the quotes I got for my 2012 X5M with 40,400 miles.

I did purchase the Carchex but the fine print read, the max payment in 5 years would be $15,000, so I cancelled it

I am just after purchasing a Toyota exclusionary warranty 5/60 for $6800 and besides the normal wear tear items, the only other noticeable item it doesn't cover is hoses. I am not happy about it but at least the company is going to stand behind their warranty and not bitch about the claims.

Warranty always comes in handy when it's time to sell the vehicle and knowing myself, heck it could be any time

Back in 2017 I bought my 13 E70 X5M lease trade-in from a bmw dealer and they selected my extended warranty based on my request to find one that 1) worked directly with BMW 2) paid the dealer directly 3) paid for o-rings, fasteners, seals, etc. when working a large repairs (exclusionary). They chose a Zurich Comprehensive vehicle service contract. I've not used it for 2 years until this week, so I couldn't really participate in this discussion.

My SA, a man of few words, said they were reasonable to deal with...they paid my water pump repair in full to the dealership except for my $100 deductible. Coupled with a loaner car, this was quite reasonable for me. The total was $904.93 before deductible. I paid $4k (yes, a lot), but obviously this won't be my only repair.

I approached my SA first before buying the extended warranty, and he had poor dealings with just about every extended warranty I could think of, FWIW. He gave me the insight above when looking for an extended warranty.

Reviving this thread, I'm looking to sell my 2013 X5 X50i and have had some questions about extended warranties doesn't look like there are any options out there anymore.

I bought my 2012 X5 from a dealer here in Canada and I was able to buy a solid 5 year extended warranty from a reliable third party warranty company, through the BMW dealer as part of the overall sale. The dealer advises me that when items fail that are covered by the warranty, the warranty company honors their obligations properly and doesn't screw you over. Based on the high number of used X5s driving around my town, I think most owners here would agree with that. Without a decent warranty though, I would not have bought the car. Period.

Sucks to hear of the situation in the US; that has got to be putting serious downward pressure on the value of used BMWs there.

I am keeping a close eye on the thread as I am in need of a warranty program. I did have a plan through a USAA third party company but it looks like this may not be an option anymore. When I did have it they had a 3yr/36,000 mile coverage but then it dropped to 1yr/12,000 at the 4+ year mark. That yearly coverage was about $3,000 if I remember correctly.

I purchased a PRCo warranty for my X5M when I bought it. I did it through a local dealer, even though I did not purchase the vehicle from them. I paid $4500 for a 3 year, 36K mile warranty. About a month ago I spun a bearing causing the engine to fail completely. PRCo has been pretty good to deal with, they are covering about $15K worth of work and considering I did not get an exclusionary warranty, I am quite happy with that. I could be back on the road with paying around $3.5K out of pocket, but I'm putting up some extra to completely rebuild the engine that's going in. Total out of pocket is going to be around $7K but I'll end up with a completely rebuilt engine with all new hoses/gaskets along the way.

The dealer I'm getting my '11 X5M from only offers Assurant w/24-60 mo plans with 30-60 mile limits.

ex 3yr/45 - $4752 / $200 ded
ex 3yr/60 - $5972 / $200 ded

Overall the range of coverage 2yr/30 $3980 to the max of 5yr/60 $7347 choice of $100 or $200 deductible changes premium slightly.

I've searched for the past week and can't come up with anything else or better..

I passed on the '11 X5M - for low miles, it was well used - my spidy senses were tingling..

The guy in line, if I decided not to purchase, also passed. So I felt like I made the right decision.

The warranty has already paid for itself and they helped cover the cost of a replacement engine through the N63 engine replacement and also thrust arm bushings. I still have 3 years/34k miles remaining. Price was reasonable as well. You can only purchase it through a dealer.

Great to hear, but I don't know why this company continues to cover X5's... at least E70 50i's? I have CNA also and my warranty has already paid for itself, and I still have coverage left. Good for us though!

A lot of companies won’t touch these vehicles at this point and for good reason. The e70s are old, expensive (especially v8) to repair and maintain.

I was just quoted 36,500 for a 5 year 60k mile coverage with 0 deductible for my 2011 x5m with 58k miles

That was for full coverage exclusionary warranty from the bmw dealership. The lowest price option the had was a 1 year 12k mile with 200 deductible for 6300. 2 years / 24k with 500 deductible for 7300.

So my advice is if you love the car self warranty and self repair.,,,,, Or use the money for a down payment on something newer and buy an extended warranty at a reasonable price.

My extended warranty ends in 8 months. So I’m deciding if I self insure, or move on from the low mileage x5m that I hardly drive (3rd car). It’s mainly my tow vehicle for my travel trailer.

My autonation gold 3/36 was 3500 for the x5m and has paid about 16k in repairs. Given how expensive it’s been, I’d expect a 7300 2 year warranty has to only cover 3 expensive oil leaks to pay for itself....
