2013 E70 35i oil leak woes......wah wah wah
2013 e70 35i, N55 motor, 75k - running MHD stage 2, catless DP, BMS intake. Car has run rock solid and now I'm starting to see a lot of oil leaking. For sure its the OFG and VCG. Replaced them and now its starting to look like the oil pan gasket. Anyone have experiencing replacing this? Looks to be a hard job.
Here is a small list of maintenance items since ive had the car at 50k. Anything else I should be aware of that's "common" failure? 55k - tires all 4 60k-water pump replacement and thermostat 65K - plugs , transfer case fluid flush , front axel replacement + airbag (recall) 70k - new brake pads and rotors all 4 75k (current) - OFG & VCG & belts |

Oil Pan Gasket is a real PITA. I believe the entire front suspension and axle needs to be dropped. Unless youre a pro, i'd be careful.
I'd check with an indy

Thanks for the suggestion. I am having my indy do the job. replacing all the gaskets - OFG -VCG - OP - flush brake fluid - flush coolant. Not cheap, but the car has been somewhat problem free and I'd like to get another 25-30k out of her before I get rid of it.

Unless they are gushing oil, none of those will prevent you from getting another 25,000 miles out of it. if that was my plan, no way I would pay the expense of paying someone to do all that work. Probably $3k of work there and no one will care when sell it (at least not enough to pay extra for it) |

I have the same X5 and the same oil pan gasket, dealer quoted me $2500, indy shop $1000, however it only leaks when I don't drive it for about a week since I have a commuter car for work. If the leaks are not too bad you can postpone until it gets really bad. And yes it is a big job and u need a pro to do it.

Do the ofhg, that's the one leaving oil on driveway and the deadliest. The rest can wait.
Hahah sorry missread. Yeah oil pan is a pain, especially on a 4wd N55. See if an Indy can do it for u. Last edited by racermp; 08-21-2018 at 08:25 PM.. |

Agree, oil pan sucks on the N55 with AWD. I looked at doing it myself and decided not too. BIG JOB. Having my indy do all the work and a bit more on the side. Truck has been problem free since I've owned it and I can justify the maintenance cost if it can get me another 30k. My only worry is the turbo, hope it lasts for a long time as the bolts are rusted on there pretty good from winter driving up to Tahoe.
