Need HELP for winter wheels and tires X6M

Recently got delivery of a Carbon black/black carbon fibre interior beauty. I am just north of Toronto in Canada and will put winter tires on the beast.

Driving mostly pavement and suburbs with 1x/week highway. Snowfall here is hard to predict but important for me to be able to get through initial snowfalls of 3-5 inches on occasion and more importantly being able to stop well on slush and pavement. Other than the standard BMW 19 inch 298M winter package is there any other combo that would clear the massive front calipers and discs?
Considering 20" or 19". ALso would like to know whether anyone has experience in running a 275/45/19 versus a 255/50/19 and compared to a 20 setup, if this affects handling and which setup you may have preferred. THis is a very complicated and car and I would hate to mess up the handling.
ANy and all thoughts appreciated

I live in the North American snow belt...I also have the Pirelli Scopions. I think they are awesome with XDrive...

THanks

Do you use the same OEM wheels just flip the summers off and replace with winters?

Separate winter wheels....I've never done it any other way...

Don't want to put my good 20's through the ice/slush/salt and sand nor do I want to risk seal failures either...

Just my personal preferences...

winter tire package for 5.0

All,

I need some advice selecting a winter tire package for an X5 5.0..the recommended one is style 232 with Goodyear ultra grip http://images.ebizautos.com/sites/84...INTER_2010.pdf

however I don't like much this style ..Asked the dealership if the 5.0 would fit the 298M style and he said that probably it wouldn't because of an offset...any idea?
If this is true, do you have any recommendations on different styles?

Thanks in advance!
