2011 x5m s63 Curved vs Straight Connecting Rods

Has anyone ever tried replacing their angled connecting rods with straight rods? I am not sure which years have the angled rods but my 2011 x5m s63 motor has angled rods. I assume they changed to straight rods in 2013 with the f10 m5

I can't see how they would not touch some part of the inner lower block and/or oil pump.

so far it looks like there were curved/angled rods to start in 2009 and it ended in 03/2011. bmw switched to straight rods BUT they had to machine out a lip at the bottom of every cylinder to allow clearance for the rod bolts.

here are the rod comparisons and a view of the cylinder lip from tasos in dubai. fast foward to 2:00 minute mark

so after tons of research, measuring, this and that, the Arrow performance rod for the F10 M5 will fit the 2010-2012 s63 (original, not the TU) with modifications.

First, the rod bolts touch the block/lower part of the cylinders and need to be notched to look like the TU block. We installed the rods, saw where the rod bolts touched the block, outlined with a sharpie, and grinded/ground the block with a carbide drill bit.

Next, the s63 "S" shaped oil sprayers do not fit and need to be removed and the ports plugged.

Finally, we are looking into putting a notch on both sides of the rods to allow oil to escape up into the wrist pins.

using a depth/feeler gauge, the clearance between the rod bolt and the block really needs to be at least 1mm / 0.04 inch. I went a little further and on the depth gauge, was at 1/16 which is 1.6mm / 0.062 inch.

(The tool has several names, Gap Gauge, Feeler Rule, Stainless Steel Metric Wedge Feeler Gauge Metric Taper Gauge Depth Ruler 1/16-3-4 Flange Ruler Inner Diameter Gauge)
