pressure testing cooling system

I keep having to add more coolant to the cooling system in my X6M. Decided to check for leaks. Anyone knows what is the maximum psi that I can pressurize system to? Has anyone tried to flush coolant on a BMW X6M E71? What's all that's involved in flushing, burping, bleeding the system? Where is the drain plug located? Should it be drained just from one location or several? Is any hose disconnection required for this? Thank you in advance for all your answers to this thread ...

I have 160,000 miles on my 2010 X6M and top off coolant every month. I don't worry about it much, but am careful to always use the BMW coolant.

Still love this vehicle as much as the first day at got it.

I add a quart of oil every 2,000 miles. That is a little concerning.

Mine is having similar problem but is likely having a leak around the expansion tank assy.

Always keep an eye on oil and coolant level, have seen similar issues for the f10 m5 guys.

I resolved issue with coolant. pressure tested, found some leaks round hose connectors and near temperature sensor. replaced, tightened, all is good now. as for the oil, i have same issue, where i have to add 1qt but every 5k miles. 2k seems to be too often in my opinion. you must have a small leak somewhere.

I had several leaks: 1.) at the point where temperature sensor connect to the hose (near the radiator), 2.) at the small hoses clamp connectors above beneath the air filter holder, above the turbos (top of the engine block). These are only visible once you remove the air filter assembly.

Unhappy 2012 x6m cooling system bleed

hello. new to this site. does anyone know how to bleed the cooling system on a 2012 x6m. I tried ignition on and press gas pedal for 10 seconds, but it seems only one out of 3 pump is working to bleed system, the two other auxuliary pumps dont work, so no coolant to auxiliary radiators therefore overheating engine. I bough this x6 with a small crash on front, replaced radiator and one(drivers) auxiliray pump. is there a fuse or relay for this pumps that I can check? how do auxiliary pumps come on? just trying to understant how it works so I can diagnose better. dont want to damage something in the proccess thanks for your inputs!!

Here are all the necessary steps to bleed your cooling system:
1.) Turn on the ignition, do not start the car
2.) Turn on your hater temp. controls to 84F (max)
3.) Turn blower fan to one dash on (min) position
4.) Hold accelerator down for 10 seconds
5.) Release accelerator pedal
6.) Listen for water-fall type of noise from the engine compartment
7.) wait for 10 minutes until all is completed
8.) you are done
