Velos Tune Incoming!

This is probably stupid, but I'm so stoked. I placed my order with the guys at Velos this morning and should have the tuner in-hand tomorrow morning. I can't wait to see what all the hype is about. So far, everyone I've seen on this forum that has ordered a tune from them has loved it.

I'm going to see if I can do some before and after dyno runs depending on the local AWD Dyno's availability. I'm really looking forward to feeling the improved HP and TQ delivery.

I'll check back in as soon as the tune's installed!

Just got the tune installed and went for a drive. I love it! I admit the entire drive I was trying to overcome my mental/butt dyno, but the change is so drastic that I couldn't help but be stoked at how the car performs and drives now. It's such a nice change.

Where the car sometimes felt a bit laggy or wimpy (X5M/X6M owners will understand) in certain parts of the RPM band, the car now feels awake and more powerful.

Just driving around in D with M-mode on, the car feels torquier and the throttle response seems to be much improved both from a dead stop and when rolling into the throttle while driving.

In S the car is a beast. It seems more brutal than before and I love it. It just feels a bit more explosive than on the stock tune (pardon all the buzzwords) and just seems altogether more aggressive. I'm looking forward to putting some normal driving miles on the car with the new tune as that'll be the real test. Naturally my test drive was a lot of stomp & steer which was amazing, but I'm excited to see how this changes the X5M on a day to day basis. I'm curious if the MPG is actually going to improve like some have said. It seems with this new-found power both my fiancee and I will be driving much more "spiritedly" than before, but we'll see if MPG improves lol.

Anyway, I can't express how pleased I am with the new feel of our X5M. Many thanks to the guys at Velos Designwerks and thanks also for the excellent customer service!

Since you get a physical tuner thing, can you reflash the car every time you take it in for service? I had Cobb on my old car and it was really easy to uninstall before I went to the dealer. From what I've read, you can't easily remove any of the X5M tunes. But I could be dead wrong. Please let me know because I'd love an excuse to buy this!

This is something the Velos guys might be able to answer better.

As Omar put it when we spoke this morning, it's not exactly time-effective since it takes a bit of time to download and upload the tunes. As far as switching back and forth goes in terms of servicing the car though, I'd be curious as well.

I wonder what kind of footprint this leaves on the car's computer. I'm sure Omar will chime in with some info though!

Yeah I'd love to hear from someone. I just sent a few PMs/emails to the different companies offering tunes. Its hard to find good information on all the manufacturers for X5M stuff vs 3 series since the community is so much smaller enjoy your tune

So I have to chime in again. My fiancee drove the X5M this evening. We share it and our M5 as our "daily drivers" since we work from home lol. She noticed a change in how the car acted almost immediately and I have to say that as a passenger in the car I noticed the change even more than while was driving it. My fiancee said that she noticed while getting on the freeway that the car now sets you back in your seat hard and you definitely feel the car just wanting to go for it. Still super pleased with this tune, thanks again Velos!

Sorry didn't see this until now. Pleased to hear you are enjoying it, after 100-200 miles it will adapt a bit and the car will feel that much better. Enjoy in good health.

I noticed there were some other questions in here, feel free to PM or call us.

Omar, I am interested as well, but concerned with factory warranty being an issue. Will we lose our warranty? Can you post any and all information on here for us?

You won't regret it. Like Omar said it takes about 200 miles to get to know you and then it's just perfection! The hand held tuner is so easy to use and they are lightning fast to get back to you.

won't make a difference whether you buy it now or wait, just as long as you can resist the urge to romp on it before 1200miles lol

I hit 1200 miles the second week haha. But I did go easy till then, even though a lot of people said you didn't need to follow break in procedures.

Man I waited till 3000 to really romp on it. I did do that in about a month. I figure why risk it.
