Exclamation 2007 x5 new to me completely dead with new battery

Hey guys do I picked up a 2007 bmw x5 recently, it runs amazing needs new rear brakes, needed a new battery but other than that body is straight interior is almost flawless. Anyway the rear automatic tailgate didn't work up on checking I found the fuse to be blown. Replaced fuse and went to start to go to the store for some groceries and her to pop and the whole card went dead can't get anything to respond. As far as I can tell all fuses are good is there something I'm missing here? Have a pretty extensive background in mechanics and 12 volt tech but this is the first bmw I've owned and worked on personally. Other than some speaker installs and subs when I used to do custom stereo systems. Figured a forum would be a good start for more knowledge on the vehicle. Thanks in advance!

BMWs are super sensitive to voltage, so if the battery is old and lowish, while it would work in another car, it would cause a lot of problems in a Bimmer.

Depending on the battery, you can trace the positive terminal up to the under hood jump point and see if you're getting 12V there. There's a lot going on between that and the battery that can go wrong. Then it's just regular car 12V system to check through.

Water intrusion through the rear lights is a thing... I don't know if it's a big problem on E70s, but on E90s it definitely causes problems. Just another thing to look for.

Check the ground wire under the bonnet! ( ground to engine) They like to fail, other than that, take a good look at the + plate on the battery check for corrosion on the different connections in the plate.

If you buy a new battery, remember that you need to register the new battery on the car.

Appreciate the info guys it's a brand new battery and doesn't have issues with ground got it to crank and it's will crank and crank but won's start... The codes I got are as follows a0b4, e723, 2acb, 5f77 2bec,

a0b4 - no start after cranking
e723 - IHKA fogging sensor
2acb - DME main relay
5f77 - DSC gets invalid info from DME
2bec - high fuel pressure after stopping

Seems to me like 2abc is your culprit. Check the main relay on the DME.

All this info was found by typing the codes into Google btw...

Okay changed our the mail relay still no start... Thought maybe it was fule pump relay no start still then noticed the rear hatch module was smoking so quick disconnect on it and inspected seems like it got pretty wet at some point. Think it's correlated?
