our trucks are currently unable to be retailed by bmw dealers
Was speaking to a friend of mine at a local BMW dealer and every e70 x5 model, e71 x6 model and e90, e92, e93 3 series models are not allowed to be retailed currently by BMW dealer as of 2/19/2016. the reason is for the airbag recall and the fact that there is no solution to it yet. he also said if you were to trade in one of these models you'd take like a $5000 deduction currently because they can't resell them. Leases are unable to be bought out or extended on these models as well. He said it could be a few months and you will see all these models fall off the websites for sale and there wont be any around for sale by BMW dealers until resolved.
edit: so i just spoke to him again and these cars can't be auctioned or retailed for sale any where currently. used car dealers and off brand dealers can't even sell them. Last edited by SakM_5; 02-23-2016 at 12:23 PM.. |

Orrrr... Sell it private party right now while nobody else can... Charge a premium for an otherwise unattainable vehicle...
Hmmm, I should do this...

My 2012 X5 50i with 28K mi may be the only one around that had the complete airbag module replaced just in the last year ... It was replaced under warranty because I found a defect in the BMW roundel emblem in the center of the pad. Anybody interested in buying the car?

Where can I find the recall list of effected VINs? I am not getting ANY notices from BMW... not even the most recent Fuel Injector recall. When I take my vehicle(s) in, nothing shows up on any recall list. Last edited by gixxerboy63; 02-23-2016 at 09:28 PM.. |

I didn't get the injector notice either but had mine done. supposedly the letters on the airbags aren't going out until march and the oldest models are being notified first. The letters are going out to notify you of the recall, then when they have the remedy you will be notified again. u can check your car here: http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...eoverride=true Last edited by SakM_5; 02-24-2016 at 07:01 AM.. |

you are right and this is kinda like the vw dieselgate thing where vw dealers can't sell but other dealers can, however it dropped the value of those, so will it to ours. i think they (vw guys) are getting some kind of compensation for diminished value.

people can't sell them at dealers and will be offered a $5k lower trade-in. So, they'll list them on autotrader and the like for similar prices to what the low trade in is so they can get their new vehicles. Looks like the prices could drop temporarily if you know what to look for.

Franchised BMW dealers can't sell at the auctions or at the retail level. BMWFS can't sell their lease returns ... Result: availability is constraint for the time being. Private sellers should be able to take advantage of this, because limited supply should keep the prices steady, or even increase. I ran a Manheim check today: out of the 193 e70 LCI X5 (2011 - 2013: 35i, 35d and 50i) listings, three were BMW dealer listings and one was listed by BMWFS Canada. Very unusual. Yet, the BMW USA CPO website shows over 190 e70 X5's for sale throughout the country in their dealer network. Could be that the system hasn't been purged yet ...

Just checked on BrianJesselBMW Pre-Owned and they seem to still have E70s from 2008 all the way up to 2013 for sale.
