Anyone cross shopped a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland
Just curious? I am looking to add to my stable, I looked at a loaded JGC Overland and it's nice - ~$43k loaded with everything you can imagine with a 5.7L Hemi.

I just sold my 2011 GC w/5.7L hemi for the 2011 X5M.
These are two really different vehicles. The X5M is an engineered vehicle with performance, fit |

I did. I decided on X5 because i was given an option. If the price is an issue, I would definitely go with a grand cherokee, it is an excellent vehicle. But if you can afford X5, please don't even think about it. Just get it already. But make sure you don't get the base model, otherwise go with loaded grand cherokee.
What I liked on a jeep was the low range, feeling of the road & the engine, steering is awesome, torque, maneuverability, size, height, visibility of the road and other vehicles around you, and price for the quality you are getting. Why did I go with X5? I had the chance, and could afford it, went for it! I always said my next vehicle will be either BMW or Benz, but I never thought Chrysler would come up with something like WK2 (That's the code for the new GC). If this was ML350 forum, I would say don't even think about it, go with Grand Cherokee, it is the same darn vehicle (almost). Although if GL could fit in my garage, I would be in one now. That's a different story.

I came pretty close to purchasing a 2012 GC Overland Summit. In the end I went with the X5d for a couple of reasons. I found that the V6 GC was decent enough, and gets much better real world mileage then the V8, but it bothers the shit out of me that Chrysler left both the 8 speed tranny and their Hi res Infotaintment/Navi system out of their flagship SUV. Both of those things would have made the GC Overland a much closer choice in my opinion. Of course, the fact that BMW is the only german company that hasn't figured out how to push past the 6sp barrier in the diesel is annoying as well - the Toureg got a decent mpg boost from their 8sp system.
