I did a full wrap on a 992. I would not do
It on a M2 - price value is out of wag.

I saw a ZB with ppf, and the sales guys and I couldn’t tell it was there at first until we started looking really close at it. Then we could only tell feeling for the edge. It looked great! I’m also in AZ and considering the front only.

PPF is a 5 foot away product.

XPEL Ult, full body.

My E90 has enough chip damage that I know I need it for the G87. Also more than a few rear dings from shopping carts, etc. Plus this is my daily driver. Hence the full body makes more sense.

If you are leasing or plan to resell, it probably makes less sense. You will not recoup the spend. Since this is a forever car for me, it isn't a problem.

Done right, PPF is not obvious at all. I sure can't see it unless I look for seams specifically. And there are some seams, but you have to be 1) looking for them and 2) pretty close.

I did a “track pack” + roof with STEK Dynoshield. You can’t even tell it’s there. Colorado roads are hell. It’s absolutely worth it.

Agreed on our roads. If you found a full car quote for 6500 I'd jump on it especially from a quality shop in Scottsdale.

I'll likely do the full front option which includes hood, fenders, bumper, headlights and side mirrors. Add on for a few bucks more the CF roof but the full front option is almost 1/4 the price of a full car job. Then ceramic coat the entire car with a 5 year (multiple coats of Ceramic Pro).

Although I do understand the notion of ppfing the entire thing and would jump on it at a better price point.

This got moved to the universal forums, wondering if the results are skewed now. No longer a G87 thread.

I have done the front ends to the following cars: 2008 QX56 (bought new), '09 e60 (bought used in '10), '11 e90, '12 335i, '12 335is, '01 Z3M (bought in 2017) and '22 540i bought new. Just last year I had the QX56 re-done because the PPF started to crack. Cost about $1k to have the old stuff replaced, but the SUV looks brand new up front. PPF, along with window tint, I just automatically do any more. Keeps the front end looking good for many years.

def in this boat, had a BSM F87 and although didn't have many chips get through the paint, if you looked closely at my front bumber it looked sand blasted. plan to "track pack" any car i care about going forward as well.

I feel like your results are going to skew a lot depending on the model of vehicle the voter owns.

If rock chips and blemishes on the paint from foreign object debris bother you, then ppf is for you. For some people, it doesn't bother them enough. I will PPF any car I care about. I've had PPF on 7-8 cars and don't regret it. It's a small price to pay for my piece of mind. I know myself and chipped up front end would bother me too much.

I go partial. Full doesn't make sense to me unless the car is black or it's a special/collector's car that you need to preserve.

The poll question is, "Are you PPF-ing your G87..."

That’s all well and good, but it seems like it’s been moved to the general section so you’ll get a lot of non-G87 owners voting regardless of what the question says.

I had the front clip/mirrors/rockers/roof done by a highly rated shop in the Portland area, and the only thing that bothers me is he said he had to do the front bumper in two pieces, so there's a seam. Anyone get the front done as a single piece?

I went ahead and answered the poll, but don't have a G87. If this is a G87-specific poll, then it should be posted in the G87 forum. If a general poll, then I would respectfully suggest rewording your post.

Over the past 5ish years I've done some combination of ceramic, ppf (partial/full), satin PPF (full only), vinyl wrap, and sealants...

Here's where I sort of end up....
It's always a personal preference and unless you have a truly limited edition, really high cost/value car, none of the items above are going to add any value to the car or even keep the value higher than an equivalent naked car that had been reasonably cared for.

Now for personal reasons, if you keep your car for 3+ years or are very OCD about your car (regardless of how long you keep it), then go for any of those options that fit your wallet. Just know that NONE of those options are care-free and in some cases, like a vinyl wrap, if you don't care for it then it will fail early and if it fails and you leave it on the car, you're in for a major world of hurt.

I'm doing a full ppf on my G87...should be done this week. I'll just use sealants and regular washes to keep it clean and hydrophobic.
