Just replaced mine not too long ago with Zimmerman rotors and textar pads.

Centric rotors are very good and affordable. Centric premiums for a slight upgrade.

As for pads, subjective at best... I've heard good things about akebono. I can't stand the centric pads.

I recently bought a full set of R1 Concepts brakes, but have not installed them. They run 15-20% specials on facebook regularly.

Was:
+1 for the Zimmerman rotors. Put them on the rears last fall because of whatever research I did at the time. Fronts will get the same when the time comes.

Edit:
Order history says Pagid....not Zimmerman.

Looks like I need to correct my mistake on recommending Zimmerman rotors: I bought Pagid. $160/rotor They've been good so far, but no experience with the Zimmerman ones.

Zimmerman Rotors and Textar/Jurid/Pagid pads. All are OE suppliers or were at one point.

I got the rotors from OEM BimmerPARTS:
Front Rear Brake Rotor By Brembo-Zimmermann 34116886478 or 34116793244 xDrive35d 2012-2013
BMW X5 Brake Rotor Set Screws (Set of 4) 34211161806
Then went with the Akebono pads from someone else.
Impressed with both. Almost no brake dust after rotating wheels after 5,000 miles where the OEM would leave the wheels just caked in brake dust. Initial bite and stopping distance is not even noticeable versus the originals.

I would buy anything off of FCP Euros website as the next time you do brakes they will be "free". Here is a link to FCP's X5 brake parts...

I did Mahle rotors and akebono pads for the fronts last time. Fcpeuro doesn't sell mahle anymore so going with zimmermans for the rear this time. Akebono pads really cut down on the dust

New to the forum!

Hey guys, new to the forum...just recently did about $1600+ in maintenance on the 35i including akebono front brake pads which definitely do not have OEM bite but very close, and little to no brake dust which is great. Most of the maintenance I did was preventative, all new coils/plugs and then due to the engine partitions failed all the rainwater dumping into the back of the engine caused injector #6 needing a replacement. So bought all that new (Chinese) the OEM partitions are a pretty penny. Fit well. Oh, also I scored a sit of style 214 wheels with 60% continental xtreme contact dws tires and a bmw roof rack which I re-painted. Love my 35i, would love a 35d but I'm happy...I do have a question about tunes if anyone have their 2 cents, MHD or JB+ and what if I don't have an android device? Thanks guys. I will post pictures soon....still more to do!
