Custon Turbo blanket for the S63/N63 turbos
I contacted PTP Turbo Blankets (www.ptpturboblankets.com) and let them know I was interested in a custom Turbo blanket that fits correctly around the hot side of our T25/T28 Garrett/Honeywell turbos.
**Note** Yes I am aware they sell a large turbo blanket, for 300$ that sits ontop of the turbos, and most of the downpipe but that also keeps the heat in right above the cylinders on the back side of the block. I do not want that. I am going to ship them one of my stock turbos so that they can fabricate one out of their lava line of turbo blankets. I was quoted $500 for the set, I just want to put that out there.... I will be sending the stock turbo to them tomorrow. Will keep this thread updated with the latest. These blankets can likely be used by the majority of N63/S63 platforms. ***UPDATE*** turbo has been shipped. Last edited by Dawgz; 08-11-2021 at 03:34 PM.. |

They are currently capturing the lava from the canary islands to make the blanket. It's gonna be smokin!

So PTP got back to me saying they already sell one and that the universal T25 one will fit. "Their engineer's" recommend it. I then bought two of those and they do not fit. Smh. They returned my money but that was a complete waste of time.

Now PTP isn't the end all be all thermal blanket solution. DEI, Thermal, and a few others exist too. If anything, PTP seems to be marketed the most, and is the most expensive. They also OEM to other smaller vendors with branding...
Back in the day jethot was affordable... Now they do more government contracts and don't care about retail customers as much, and their price went up considerably over the 15yrs or so I have used them.

https://www.designengineering.com/tu...kit-universal/ Even if a T25 didn't fit, with the hotside measurements, you can figure out what really fits.
