My new 2012 x5m

Hey fellow bimmer bros!!!
Just got my new 2012 BMW x5m!! And I am loving it so far!!!!!
But I have one question! Okay so I already know the fatty is a gas guzzler but I didn't expect it to empty so quickly.

So I filled up the tank on Friday night, and already it has a quarter of the gallon left. Well I heard that its not good for the car to drive if the gallon is below the quarter so basically friends tell me to refuel as soon as fuel goes to a quarter?

Is it really true it's that ba for the car?

How often do u guys refuel?

Your motor is new and not broken in yet. Give it a couple thousand miles to break in. You'll get better mileage and better performance to. I've never heard of refueling at the quarter of a tank mark. You just don't ever want it to run dry.

The only time I've heard about refueling at a quarter of a tank is if you are somewhere really really cold. Heard its not good for the car to sit outside in freezing temps with less then a quarter or even half a tank of gas. Regardless I don't think it would do any damage..

Thanks a lot guys for the advice!
Well, I tried the m mode about once well I wanted to see how bad of a beast she is on a stop signal vs a 2009 c6 and I killed it. Well I stopped as soon as my rpm went over 4.5

Will it break the engine or sumthing since it has about 500 km on it?! Shall I wait for 1500 km to try it again?!

if are in an area with significant temperature swings then keeping the tank closer to full is always better. simply to avoid condensation build up due to air temp change in the empty part of the tank.

Bro drive the truck and dont stress yourself lol. I launch and take corners pretty hard and sometimes take the tank down to 10 miles before refueling again. No problems, yet. Drive safe!

Thanks a lot bro ! Living the truck so far! I like the exhausts sound, thinking of installing akrapovic exhausts or eismann in a year or so.

The biggest reason not to run your tank low is to avoid damage to the fuel pump. Fuel pump puts out a lot of heat and the only way to prevent it from burning out believe it or not is the cooling provided from gasoline.
