Well, we went in for an X3....

Wife's RX350 lease is up and we were all set to seal the deal on a X3 28i...

Then she saw the Vermillion Red on Oyster X5 35i Premium on the floor and asked to test drive it..

Now I've owned way too many BMW's to list here (including X6 35i, X6 50i, X5d and now a little X3 28i) and I knew damn well what was going to happen

So I think tomorrow we're going to pick-up her new X5...

Actually, it's a beautiful, beautiful vehicle and I can understand why she loves it so...Me personally? I'd probably go for the Sport instead of Premium, but they're all damn nice - I loved my E70 35d (wish I hadn't traded it away when I did).

So I'm trying to remember the options on this new one:

Premium
Convenience
Cold Weather
Tech
Hud
MultiContour Seats (YAY!!!!)
Sat
Nav

I'm sure I'm missing something...Thing is a beast - especially after driving my little x3 28i around!!

Tell me the HPFP problems are a thing of the past right? I'll post some pix later on.

So we did end-up picking-up an 013 X5 35i Premium...

Awesome vehicle equipped as described above...Poor wife was absolutely overwhelmed by all there is to learn on this vehicle...

She's been driving RX's for over 12 years - so a big, big switch for her...Told her not to get frustrated and learn the basics first..

Anyways, by this evening she was crowing about how wonderful it was and was no longer "afraid"...

I reminded her how I've been telling her for years to come over to the dark-side from Lexus and the X5 was 2x the car the RX is.

She said no, it's 10x the vehicle the RX is....

Congrats. On the HPFP, it's the thing in the past. If the X5 is 2011+, you're getting the N55. The N55 has roughly 80% new parts, a huge upgrade from the N54.

I owned a 535i for 43k miles with no issues, other than a minor vacuum hose leak (no biggie). My X5 35i has 23k miles on it, error free (knock on wood).

Post the pictures soon???

Here's a couple quick pix after a car-wash this morning - I am far from a good photographer (I know)....

Hard to keep a car clean in the snow-belt this time of year...We're sporting the Weather-Tech Floorliners for another month or so.

Love the Vermillion Red on Oyster! Sport Seats in my X3 are very good - Multicontour seats in X5 even better - my favorites as a matter of fact.

The N55 is very, very smooth, exhaust has a nice sound to it and the 8 speed tranny is really nice - especially in sport mode!

Going to keep it bone-stock...She loves it just the way it is and it's her EDD..

THX!

The steering effort has to be quite different between her old RX and the new X5. Any complaints there?

You got that right - I was anticipating it and didn't say anything when she was testing the X5 and X3.

I would have thought the heft of the X5 at slow speeds would have caused some negative feed-back and it didn't...
