Help with HID bulb replacement

I was trying to replace the hid bulb on my E70 headlight. I’ve done it on multiple BMWs in the past. This is the first time i’ve seen a bulb without any clips holding it in place. Does this seem right? Do I just pull straight out to remove it? Below is a picture. Sorry about it being upside down. Im not sure why it’s like that.

It does not pull straight out. You need to twist it one direction and then it will pull out. I believe its 45deg but cant remember off the top of my head.

I`m having a hard time changing that bulb that`s burned on my X5.
It won`t turn at all. I`m afraid of putting to much force and break something.

Are they really stuck in there and hard to turn?

Thanks

Yes. I had to use chanel locks to make it easier. When reinstalling them the same amount of force is NOT required.

I tried a few times on the weekend but I couldn`t get it out so I gave up. I was afraid I was going to break something.

I`ll try again on the weekend. Thanks

I tried again today but and I can`t get that stupid bulb out.

I don`t know how you got channel locks in there. I tried 3 different size channel locks and I can`t fit them in there properly, they keep hitting the sides no matter which way I position them, so I can`t even grab the bulb to turn it.

By the way, it`s the drivers side bulb.

Thanks for the help.
